David Byrne Marks ‘Who Is The Sky?’ Anniversary With Deluxe Edition, Four New Tracks

David Byrne put out a digital deluxe version of his album ‘Who Is The Sky?’ on September 16, 2026, through Matador Records, timed to the record’s one-year anniversary. The reissue adds four previously unreleased tracks to the original set, arriving as Byrne closes out his year-long tour behind the album and gets ready to publish a new book.

• Bonus tracks added: “My Madness,” “T Shirt,” “What and Where,” and “¿Cuál Es La Razón?”

What’s New on the ‘Who Is The Sky?’ Deluxe Edition

Among the four additions, “¿Cuál Es La Razón?” reworks the original album cut “What Is the Reason for It?” The new version drops the Hayley Williams feature from the 2025 release and instead pairs Byrne with Natalia Lafourcade, who co-wrote the track and sings alongside Mexican Institute of Sound.

“T Shirt” is not a newly written song. Byrne has said it dates back further but only entered his live show’s setlist after being cut from the finished album, and it now gets an official release as part of the deluxe tracklist.

Byrne also shared a music video for “My Madness,” one of the new songs, built around psychedelic, swirling visuals. In the lyrics, he casts his own madness as a separate character he has learned to accept and befriend rather than fight.

Explaining why he chose to revisit an album a year after its release, Byrne said in a statement that streaming has loosened the old idea of an album as a fixed sequence of songs pressed onto a single object. “Albums can be super long, super short, and the songs can change over time,” he said, adding that the one constant is that songs from the same recording period “speak to that time and place.”

Byrne’s touring cycle behind ‘Who Is The Sky?’ is set to end with two final performances: September 17, 2026 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga, New York, and September 19, 2026 at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York.

Earlier on the tour, filmmaker Brady Corbet, who directed ‘The Brutalist,’ filmed Byrne’s multiple-night run at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore on 70mm film for a forthcoming concert movie.

David Byrne’s ‘Sleeping Beauties’ Book and Tour Dates

Once the concert dates wrap, Byrne turns his attention to ‘Sleeping Beauties: Why Good Ideas Go Dormant and How They Wake Up,’ due out via Penguin Press on October 6, 2026 in North America and October 8, 2026 in the UK.

Byrne has lined up a run of North American appearances to accompany the book’s release, to be followed by additional stops in the UK.
