Dee Snider Reveals He Broke His Shoulder Playing Basketball With His Kids

Dee Snider posted a video to his social media on August 26, 2026, telling fans he broke his right shoulder while playing basketball with his children. The 71-year-old former Twisted Sister frontman said he was knocked down mid-game and landed hard on his right side, fracturing the bone in his shoulder.

In the clip, Snider recounted getting “checked” during the game and going down “like a ton of bricks,” joking that he suspected one of his sons might have been celebrating nearby as he lay on the court. He noted the injury is especially inconvenient because he is right-handed, making the adjustment to relying on his left hand for everyday tasks a genuine struggle.

Dee Snider’s Twisted Sister Exit and 2026 Tour Replacement

The injury comes months after Snider announced in February 2026 that he was stepping away from Twisted Sister for health reasons. He cited degenerative arthritis that limits him to performing only a handful of songs at a time through pain, along with years of physically demanding performances that he said have taken a toll on his heart.

Former Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach is set to front Twisted Sister for the band’s 2026 tour dates in Snider’s place, performing alongside guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda. Russell Pzütto, who has previously toured with Snider’s solo projects, will fill in on bass for Mark “The Animal” Mendoza. Drummer Joe Franco, originally lined up for the shows, is no longer available for the fall 2026 dates and will be replaced by Joey Cassata, who was the drummer on Ace Frehley’s final solo album, “10,000 Volts.”
