Vivian Campbell’s Health and the City of Hope Partnership

Vivian Campbell was first diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in 2013 and said last year he was “completely in remission.” In August, he disclosed that the cancer had come back after a donor transplant performed in January 2025 failed to take hold.

Campbell explained the decision behind the transplant: “In the winter of 2023, I got really scared about what was happening and the pace at which it was happening. And I realised at that point that I had to do a donor transplant. It was my only hope to survive. And that’s what I did. I did that in January of ’25. I did a donor transplant. Unfortunately, it didn’t stick. So the cancer has returned. And I’m continuing treatments to manage it.”

In connection with the 2027 tour, the band is directing one dollar from each ticket sold toward City of Hope, the organization that has treated Campbell throughout his illness.

What Def Leppard Is Doing Before the 2027 Tour

Def Leppard wrapped the European portion of its Live 2026 tour in July and has more dates on the books before the North American trek begins. The band plays a show at Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on October 15, then heads to Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Colombia and Argentina over the following weeks.

  • October 15: Hollywood, FL, Seminole Hard Rock Live
  • October 17: Queretaro, Mexico, Autodromo Queretaro
  • October 19: Mexico City, Mexico, Palacio de los Deportes
  • October 21: Guadalajara, Mexico, Arena VFG
  • October 24: San Salvador, El Salvador, Cuscatlan Stadium
  • October 27: Alajuela, Costa Rica, Parque Viva
  • November 2: Bogota, Colombia, Movistar Arena
  • November 5: Buenos Aires, Argentina, Movistar Arena

New Music From Def Leppard

The band has released a fresh mix of its cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes,” a recording previously used as onstage intro music that will now appear on a rarities disc as part of the upcoming Volume 4 box set. Earlier in 2026, Def Leppard also put out a new single titled “Rejoice” ahead of launching its Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace.

Guitarist Phil Collen said the band is working on a full studio album targeted for 2027, drawing inspiration from how Queen approached songwriting as a group effort. “What we’ve been doing now, I mean, the last album [Diamond Star Halos] was amazing. We did it during COVID,” Collen said. “Me and Joe [Elliott] had a best time ever, just sending ideas. But we always wanted to be Queen. What Queen would do, you know. John Deacon writes ‘Another One Bites the Dust,’ but everyone puts everything into it.”

Collen elaborated on that approach: “So, what Queen would do, you know, they would let Freddie Mercury take the stage and go, ‘Okay, we’re gonna put all this stuff in.’ You know, Roger Taylor doing all these high vocals and everyone put everything into other people’s songs, but it still had that Queen mark to it. But it also had something different. So we’ve started doing something like that and I think this album’s really diverse, the one we’re doing right now.”

Singer Joe Elliott said in early July that the band had roughly 18 songs under consideration for the new record. “We’ve kind of got nearly two albums,” he said. “We’re gonna pick and choose which 10 or 11 we think are the right ones… we’ve got some great songs, very varied.”
