Foreigner Reissuing ‘Head Games’ as Super Deluxe Edition, Shares Unheard Track ‘Trouble’ Featuring Peter Frampton

Foreigner will release a Super Deluxe Edition of its 1979 album “Head Games” on October 30, 2026, on CD/Blu-ray and vinyl, with the collection also arriving the same day through digital service providers. The announcement comes alongside the digital release of a newly discovered, previously unreleased song called “Trouble,” which now features a freshly recorded guitar solo from Peter Frampton.

• “Trouble” was originally recorded in May 1979 at Atlantic Studios in New York during the sessions for “Head Games” and was co-produced by Roy Thomas Baker.
• The song was found during research for the new boxed set and has been remixed for its first-ever commercial release.
• A special seven-inch single pairing “Trouble” with another unreleased “Head Games”-era song, “Zalia,” will be sold as a direct-to-consumer exclusive through Rhino.com and Foreigner’s merch store.
• Disc 3 of the box set contains a previously unreleased full concert recorded at the Rochester Community War Memorial in Rochester, New York, on October 27, 1979.
• The reissue was overseen by Foreigner bassist Jeff Pilson and longtime production collaborator Wyn Davis, with a new liner-notes essay by music journalist Ken Sharp.

What Is on the New Foreigner Track ‘Trouble’?

“Trouble” dates back to the original “Head Games” recording sessions but never made the final album cut, leaving it unheard for decades until it turned up while producers were assembling material for this reissue. For its 2026 release, the track has been remixed and given a newly recorded guitar solo courtesy of Peter Frampton, described as a longtime friend of Foreigner co-founder Mick Jones.

Fans can also get “Trouble” on physical seven-inch vinyl, backed with the non-album rarity “Zalia,” through a direct-to-consumer exclusive sold via Rhino.com and Foreigner’s own merchandise store.

What’s Included in the ‘Head Games’ Super Deluxe Edition?

The Super Deluxe package spans four discs. The first disc holds a newly remixed version of the original ten-track “Head Games” album, while a second disc gathers outtakes, rough mixes and alternate versions from the sessions, including “Trouble” and a “2026 Remix” of “Zalia.” A third disc preserves the previously unreleased October 27, 1979 concert from Rochester, and a Blu-ray disc rounds out the set with a Dolby Atmos mix of the studio album alongside “Trouble” as a bonus track.

Beyond the Super Deluxe bundle, Foreigner is offering the reissue in several other formats: a standalone single-LP vinyl edition of the remixed 2026 album, Dolby Atmos versions of both the full Super Deluxe audio collection and the ten-track remix on its own, and a Digital Super Deluxe Edition for streaming and download.

Head Games’ Place in Foreigner’s History

“Head Games” first came out in September 1979, credited to Lou Gramm on lead vocals and percussion, Mick Jones on lead guitar, piano, backing vocals and lead vocals, Ian McDonald on guitars, keyboards and synthesizers, Rick Wills on bass and backing vocals, and Dennis Elliott on drums. The album marked bassist Rick Wills’ first appearance with the band and turned out to be the final Foreigner record featuring founding members Ian McDonald and Al Greenwood, as well as the last to feature Mick Jones on lead vocals.

This “Head Games” reissue follows last year’s deluxe edition of “Foreigner 4,” continuing a run of archival releases tied to the band’s fifty-year celebration.
