Gillian Welch and David Rawlings Add December New York Dates to Grateful Dead Acoustic Reckoning Tour

Gillian Welch and David Rawlings have expanded their Grateful Dead Acoustic Reckoning Tour with six freshly added shows across New York state, set for December 12 through 18, 2026. The new run supplements dates the duo previously confirmed for a swing through the South from October 18 to 24, 2026.

The tour’s title nods to the Grateful Dead’s 1981 double live album “Reckoning,” though Welch and Rawlings are drawing from a wider stretch of the Dead’s catalog than just the tracks featured on that record, framing the songs through an acoustic lens.

Where Are the New December Shows?

The added December dates kick off with a pair of nights at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13, 2026. From there, the duo heads to the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY for shows on Tuesday, December 15 and Wednesday, December 16.

A single performance at the State Theater of Ithaca in Ithaca, NY follows on Thursday, December 17, before the run wraps with a return engagement at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester on Friday, December 18, 2026.

What Welch and Rawlings Have Said About the Grateful Dead

Earlier this year, Gillian Welch described the effect Jerry Garcia’s voice had on her the first time she heard it, comparing it to a key that slotted perfectly into her mind. She added that experiencing the Grateful Dead in a live setting, rather than only through recordings, mattered deeply to her.

David Rawlings pointed to a specific piece of Grateful Dead history that left an impression on him: a 46-minute rendition of “Playing in the Band” performed in Seattle on May 21, 1974, which he came across on SiriusXM’s dedicated Dead channel.
