Gregg Allman Documentary ‘The Music of My Soul’ Sets National Theatrical Tour

The documentary “Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul” is heading out on a national tour of theaters, music venues and other spaces, beginning September 1, 2026, at the Nectar Lounge in Seattle, WA. Confirmed screenings currently run through December 2026, with an additional stop already booked for March 18, 2027, at the Presidio Theatre in San Francisco, CA.

The feature-length film examines Gregg Allman’s life story against the backdrop of American culture, drawing on interviews with people who knew him personally and professionally. Those interviewed include Devon Allman, Galadrielle Allman, Chuck Leavell, Jaimoe, Cher, Jackson Browne and Don Was, among others. Screenings will use high-fidelity sound systems and take place in a mix of theaters, music halls and dedicated venues rather than a standard cinema rollout.

Michael Lehman on Why the Film Plays Like a Concert

Michael Lehman, Gregg Allman’s longtime manager and the film’s lead producer, has framed the roadshow presentations as something closer to a live show than a typical movie screening. “I truly believe Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul should be experienced more like a live concert than a traditional film,” Lehman said, adding that the music of Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers Band forms “the heartbeat of this experience.”

Lehman said staging the film in live venues turns the screenings into communal gatherings rather than passive viewings. “It gives audiences the chance to gather with friends, enjoy a beverage, browse exclusive merchandise, and celebrate Gregg’s incredible legacy together as a community,” he said, describing the events as participatory experiences rather than simple film showings.

Lehman also spoke to what he hopes viewers take away from the documentary. “I hope the attendees leave with an even deeper appreciation for Gregg’s extraordinary music, his remarkable life, and the legacy he continues to inspire,” he said.

Q&A Sessions and Notable Stops

A number of screenings will include post-film Q&A sessions featuring Lehman, director James Keach, Allman Brothers Band manager Bert Holman, and longtime ABB writer Alan Paul, appearing in various combinations depending on the city. Highlighted stops on the schedule include the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles on September 18, The Fillmore in New Orleans on September 19, three separate dates at Mercer Music at Capricorn in Macon, GA in September, and ACL Live in Austin, TX on October 20.
