Nancy Wilson Says Heart’s First New Album in a Decade Is ‘Almost Finished’

Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson says the band’s first new studio album in a decade is nearly complete. Speaking with Lyndsey Parker of Gold Derby, Wilson said the recording is “all done” for the LP, which follows the band’s 2016 album “Beautiful Broken.”

Wilson described the new record as “really, really strong” and said, “I think it’s going to be great.” She added, “I’m really happy. It really feels like a Heart record.”

• The songs were written and recorded in Nashville with the same players who performed on Heart’s last tour.
• Wilson said the album was “pretty much recorded live.”
• Wilson said Heart is “delivering it at the end of August.”
• The rollout is being coordinated alongside a world tour, a documentary film, a live-action feature film and a new management company.

What Else Is Happening With Heart Right Now

Ann Wilson, Nancy’s sister and Heart’s frontwoman, is releasing a new album with her band Tripsitter titled “Consecrated Ground” on August 14. She will launch a supporting tour in September, with dates currently scheduled through November.

A previously announced Heart biopic is being written and directed by Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney and “Portlandia.” The film is being produced for Amazon by Lynda Obst, whose credits include more than 20 movies and TV shows such as “Interstellar” and “Contact.” The movie will begin in the Wilson sisters’ childhood and end in the 1990s.

Heart’s Recent History

Nancy and Ann Wilson took a break from Heart for a couple of years following a family fallout in 2016 before mending their relationship and returning to touring. The North American leg of Heart’s “Royal Flush” tour was postponed in July 2024 after Ann Wilson went public with her cancer diagnosis; she later underwent surgery and preventive chemotherapy before returning to the road.

Heart’s current lineup includes Nancy Wilson on guitars and backing/lead vocals, Ann Wilson on lead vocals and flute, Ryan Wariner and Ryan Waters on guitars, Paul Moak on guitars and keyboards, Tony Lucido on bass and Sean Lane on drums.

Heart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, an event that reunited Ann and Nancy Wilson with original members Roger Fisher, Steve Fossen, Michael DeRosier and Howard Leese for the first time in 34 years.
