Motley Crue Announces 45th Anniversary ‘Too Fast for Love’ Box Set

Motley Crue has announced a 45th Anniversary Limited Edition Box Set of its 1981 debut album “Too Fast for Love,” set for release on October 30, 2026 through BMG. The band marked the announcement by releasing a previously unheard March 1981 demo of “Nobody Knows What It’s Like to Be Lonely,” paired with a newly produced music video.

• “Too Fast for Love” earned a Platinum certification in the United States and a Gold certification in Canada.
• The album peaked at #77 on the US albums chart, #17 on the UK Rock & Metal Albums chart, #77 on the Scottish Albums chart and #95 on the Swiss Albums chart.
• An ultra-limited “Crueseum” edition of 250 hand-numbered copies with extra items will be sold only through the Crueseum.
• Standard CD and LP editions will also be sold, along with retailer-exclusive versions at Walmart, Amazon, Revolver and Independent Retail.
• The 1981 Leathur Records edition of the album will be made available on streaming platforms for the first time.

What’s Included in the ‘Too Fast for Love’ 45th Anniversary Box Set

The centerpiece package brings together the original 1981 Leathur Records pressing, the retooled 1982 Elektra Records edition, and a two-LP set of live material recorded at the Perkins Palace shows in 1982. That live recording gives listeners an early preview of songs that would later appear on 1983’s “Shout at the Devil,” including the title track itself.

Rounding out the collection is a single LP of demos cut during the band’s first studio sessions in March 1981, a replica of the band’s original demo cassette, a reproduction of a 7-inch single, a 100-page hardcover photo book, a lyric book and a replica poster. A CD copy of the 1981 Leathur Records version is also included in the box.

The History Behind Motley Crue’s ‘Too Fast for Love’

Motley Crue first put “Too Fast for Love” out into the world in November 1981, pressing only 900 copies on the band’s own Leathur Records imprint. The buzz generated by the band’s live shows caught the attention of Elektra Records, which signed the group in early 1982 and released a remixed, remastered edition of the album that August with a revised song order.

Motley Crue’s 2026 Tour Dates

Motley Crue is currently in the middle of “The Return of the Carnival of Sins Tour” across North America with Tesla and Extreme, a 33-city run commemorating 20 years since the band’s 2006 Carnival of Sins Tour. The trek runs through September 26, 2026, and the current setlist features “Too Fast for Love” and “Take Me to the Top” from the debut album alongside “Live Wire,” a song that has held its place in the band’s live shows for 45 years. A portion of ticket sale proceeds is being directed through the Motley Crue Giveback Initiative to ASAP! (After School Arts Program), which funds music and arts education for students.
