Primus is set to embark on an ambitious U.S. tour titled “Onward & Upward” across the summer of 2025, marking a significant moment in the band's history with the introduction of their new drummer, John Hoffman. Known for their eclectic style and musical prowess, Primus has always had a unique presence in the rock scene. This tour represents a new chapter with fresh energy and creativity brought by Hoffman, who was chosen from a global pool of over 6,200 applicants during a well-documented audition process aptly titled “Interstellar Drum Derby.” This series offered fans a glimpse into the journey that led to Hoffman's selection, reaffirming the band's enduring dedication to musical innovation.

Beginning on July 5, at the Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles, California, the tour will see the band visiting a variety of renowned venues across the nation, each stop promising a showcase of Primus's dynamic musical range. This tour will cover a total of 24 cities, with memorable venues such as the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, The Salt Shed in Chicago, and The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. The final two nights will feature a remarkable closing performance at Channel 24 in Sacramento. In a creative twist, Primus will share the stage with intriguing supporting acts on select dates: Ty Segall, renowned for his garage rock sound, and MonoNeon, a virtuoso bassist with a flair for experimental funk.

John Hoffman's incorporation into the band stands prominent in this series of performances. His electrifying style has been likened to an “octopus-like” approach due to his remarkable versatility and skill. Fans are eager to witness how his influence will blend with Les Claypool's inventive basslines and Larry LaLonde's iconic guitar riffs. Hoffman’s debut will not merely be a repeat of their classics but will include a diverse setlist that Hoffman's keen interest prompted, reviving tracks that haven't been played live for years.

Tickets for the “Onward & Upward” tour will be available starting with a VIP and artist presale on March 26, before the general sale begins on March 28. For fans eager to secure their spot, this marks an opportunity to experience the reinvigorated energy of Primus firsthand. As the summer unfolds, followers of the band will witness an exhilarating blend of nostalgia infused with fresh creativity, ensuring that every show is an explorative journey into the vibrant soundscape that Primus is celebrated for.
