Supertramp’s Surviving Members Launch New ‘Classic LineUp’ Partnership Website

The surviving members of Supertramp’s classic lineup have joined forces with the Estate of Rick Davies to introduce a new online home for the band called “Supertramp Partnership: The Classic LineUp.” Bassist Dougie Thomson, saxophonist and vocalist John Helliwell, and drummer Bob Siebenberg are behind the project, which is meant to give fans a fresh way to engage with the band’s history.

The new site arrives alongside newly created Facebook and Instagram pages, expanding the band’s presence beyond what has traditionally been a limited social media footprint.

In a joint statement addressed to fans, Thomson, Helliwell and Siebenberg looked back on the year since Rick Davies passed away. “As surviving members of the classic lineup, we reflect on the year since Rick Davies’ death, more grateful than ever to have brought Rick’s dreams for Supertramp to life,” they said. “Two iconic writers with indelible voices led to a body of work that is revered by millions. We are proud of what this music represents as much today as we were when it was created.”

The trio also framed the new website as a way of honoring that legacy going forward. “Dougie, John and Bob are happy to mark this milestone with this new path to connect with Supertramp fans around the world for whom this music has been formative and who have kept Rick’s legacy burning brightly,” the statement continued.

The Complicated Bond Between Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson

The statement did not shy away from acknowledging tension within the band’s history, describing the dynamic between Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson as a source of “fruitful creative tension.” The members added that relationships among the players had been difficult at times over the years, but that the music itself has remained the thread connecting them all.

“The classic era of Supertramp endures,” the statement concluded, signaling that the newly launched site and social pages are meant to keep that era visible to fans moving forward.

Recent Interviews Tied to the Hammersmith Odeon Release

The website’s debut follows recent conversations that Helliwell and Siebenberg had with Prog magazine, conducted around the release of the “Crime Of The Century: In Concert At Hammersmith Odeon 1975” Blu-ray. Those interviews gave the two musicians a platform to discuss the band’s legacy shortly before the new fan-facing site went live.
