Universal Studios Opens Ozzy Osbourne ‘Prince of Darkness’ Haunted Houses for Halloween Horror Nights

Universal has opened a new Halloween Horror Nights attraction called “Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness” at Universal Orlando Resort, with a companion version set to open at Universal Studios Hollywood on September 3, 2026. Universal first announced the twin haunted houses on July 29, 2026, describing them as a tribute built in close collaboration with Ozzy Osbourne’s widow, Sharon Osbourne, and son, Jack Osbourne.

How Sharon and Jack Osbourne Shaped the Attraction

Charles Gray, senior show director of entertainment creative development for Universal Orlando, said Sharon and Jack Osbourne were closely involved throughout the design process, reviewing everything from set pieces to mask sculpting. “Jack and Sharon were with us every step of the way,” Gray said. “They embraced our story and creative and inspected and approved all elements from scenic design to mask sculpts.”

Sharon and Jack Osbourne released a joint statement about the project, calling it a fitting way to honor Ozzy’s restless creative streak. “Ozzy never stopped pushing boundaries, and he loved anything that gave fans a new way to experience his music and the worlds he created,” they said. “Halloween Horror Nights has done an incredible job bringing that spirit to life. Walking through these haunted houses, you’ll recognize so many moments inspired by his music and imagination. It’s a wonderful tribute to Ozzy, and we hope fans have as much fun experiencing it as he would have had seeing it come together.”

What Guests Will Experience Inside the Haunted Houses

John Murdy, executive producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, said the house was designed to walk visitors through the surreal imagery that shaped Osbourne’s persona across his solo catalog. “Ozzy Osbourne didn’t just help define heavy metal, he created a cultural phenomenon that has influenced generations of music, art and horror,” Murdy said. “This new haunted house is an opportunity to honor his extraordinary solo career. Inspired by all 13 of his albums, guests will journey through the dark, surreal worlds that fueled his music and cemented his legacy as the one and only Prince of Darkness.”

At Universal Studios Hollywood, the storyline moves visitors through decades of Osbourne’s career inside a setting called the “Osbourne Asylum.” The Orlando version instead sends guests through crumbling ruins and a dungeon before they board a re-creation of the “Crazy Train.”

Mike Aiello, senior director of entertainment creative development at Universal Orlando Resort, said the goal was to make the tribute feel personal rather than generic. “It was important for us to create an authentic experience that brings Ozzy’s creativity and personality to life in an eerily immersive new way,” Aiello said. “Fans will discover so many meaningful details, including a few Easter Eggs, as they navigate memorable dark and twisted moments inspired by his iconic musical career.”

The Orlando house’s soundtrack pulls from across Osbourne’s solo years, including his 1983 hit “Bark at the Moon.” One scene built around a train station, referencing Osbourne’s upbringing in Birmingham, England, plays a mash-up of “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Tinkertrain.”

Remembering Ozzy Osbourne

Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, at age 76. His death came just weeks after Black Sabbath’s final concert on July 5, 2025, held in his hometown of Birmingham, England; one outlet put the gap between the two events at 17 days.
