Avery Wilson

A R&B singer and songwriter, Avery Wilson received early support from Clive Davis and major-label RCA. Wilson made his mark on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart with his debut single, ‘If I Have To’ in 2015. Following this success, he went on to release additional singles under RCA before transitioning to an independent path with FYI in 2018. Originally hailing from Hamden, Connecticut, Avery Wilson’s journey began with performances at open-mike events organized by his father. He later emerged victorious in a New York talent competition for teenagers. One of his early demos, ‘Ringtone’, circulated by his father, garnered attention from local and regional radio stations.
‘If I Have To’, a soulful ballad crafted by Rodney Jerkins and Kirby Lauryen, marked Wilson’s official entry into the music scene as a solo artist, peaking at number 18 on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart in May 2015.
