The Violent is a rock trio consisting of Mike Protich, Dave McGarry, and Pat Gerasia. In late 2019, the popular rock band Red Sun Rising announced an indefinite hiatus, leading its members to explore new opportunities. When the world plunged into the depths of the pandemic, singer and songwriter Mike Protich found solace in creativity during the lockdown period, seeking to unleash new music and explore his artistic boundaries. Gathering his former bandmates, Patrick Gerasia and David McGarry, they embarked on a remote collaboration, utilizing home studios and working with producer Albert DiFiore in Nashville, Tennessee. Transitioning from traditional rock roots, the trio embraced experimentation, merging rock elements with electronic and digital sounds in a revolutionary approach to music production. Despite the physical barriers that kept them apart, The Violent was conceived from this unconventional creative process, a testament to innovation amidst chaos in the pandemic era.
