Detroit rapper Big Sean, inspired by legendary artists like the Notorious B.I.G., Kanye West, and Eminem, has solidified his iconic status with multiple platinum-selling albums. He is signed to Def Jam subsidiary GOOD Music, where he achieved hits starting from his debut in 2011 with Finally Famous. Big Sean’s commercial success continued to soar, yielding number one singles and chart-topping records up to his fifth album, Detroit 2 in 2020. Following this full-length release, he collaborated on an EP with Hit-Boy in 2021 titled What You Expect, and made appearances on 2022 singles by Queen Naija and Ellie Goulding. In 2024, he teased his upcoming sixth album Better Me Than You with the release of the single, ‘Precision.’
Born as Sean Anderson in California but raised in Detroit, Big Sean’s journey began in 2007 when he signed with Kanye West’s GOOD Music label. His connection with West started through a Detroit hip-hop radio station where he showcased his freestyle skills, leading to a recording contract offer and the release of his debut mixtape, Finally Famous, Vol. 1. Over the years, Sean released additional mixtapes and his official debut album, Finally Famous, in 2011, featuring hit singles like ‘My Last’ with Chris Brown. Subsequent albums like Hall of Fame and Dark Sky Paradise showcased his versatility and featured collaborations with industry heavyweights like Lil Wayne, Nas, and Ariana Grande. Big Sean’s success continued with hits like ‘I Don’t Fuck with You’ and ‘Bounce Back,’ solidifying his position in the rap scene.
