Chris Cagle, a talented artist with a remarkable journey, relocated from Louisiana to the outskirts of Houston at the age of four. His musical inclination began early, starting guitar lessons at six and later switching to piano during high school. After a brief hiatus, he returned to the guitar in his senior year with a newfound passion for music. Eager to pursue his musical aspirations, Cagle left the University of Texas at Arlington at 19 and headed to Nashville in 1994, where he faced five years of challenges before his breakthrough. Noteworthy Nashville songwriter Harlan Howard recognized his talent, paving the way for Cagle to secure a publishing deal and have his songs featured by David Kersh. It was a chance encounter with the assistant to the president of Virgin Records Nashville that changed Cagle’s trajectory. Signed by Virgin Records, Cagle’s debut single,
My Love Goes on and On,
made its mark on the country charts in July 2000, reaching the Top 20 and setting the stage for his first album, Play It Loud, released in October of the same year. The album garnered success on the country charts, with the track
Laredo
climbing into the country Top 40. Cagle’s transition from Virgin to Capitol Records in 2001, both under the umbrella of EMI, led to the reissue of Play It Loud with additional tracks. Subsequent albums, including a self-titled album in 2003 and Anywhere But Here in 2005, continued to solidify Cagle’s presence in the country music scene. My Life’s Been a Country Song followed in 2008, showcasing Cagle’s dedication to his craft. Amidst a hiatus from the music industry, Cagle focused on personal milestones, such as building a ranch, starting a family, and embracing new experiences. His return in 2011 with the single
Got My Country On
marked a new chapter, signifying the upcoming release of the studio album Back in the Saddle in 2012, under the newly signed Big Picture Music Group label. The evolution of Chris Cagle’s musical career is a testament to his resilience, passion, and unwavering commitment to country music.
