Daya

Daya is a Grammy-winning American singer/songwriter who infuses her catchy pop gems with lush electronic elements. Her musical journey has been characterized by a gradual evolution, where she transitioned from a 16-year-old high school junior climbing the charts with a sound reminiscent of Lorde and Alessia Cara to embracing a more electronic-leaning style over the years. Notable milestones in her career include the release of her breakthrough debut album, “Sit Still, Look Pretty,” which featured the multi-platinum track “Hide Away,” and her Grammy win with the Chainsmokers for the hit song “Don’t Let Me Down.” In 2021, she released the EP “The Difference,” which showcased her course-shifting hit, “Bad Girl,” marking a significant shift towards electronic-infused tracks.
Born as Grace Martine Tandon, Daya derived her stage name from the Hindi word for “grace” as a tribute to her Indian heritage. Raised in the Pittsburgh suburb of Mount Lebanon, her musical journey began at a young age with piano lessons at three and later voice lessons at ten. Signing with the Z-Entertainment label in 2014 based on her demos, Daya rose to fame with the breakout single “Hide Away,” achieving multi-platinum certification and establishing her presence in the global music scene. Her debut self-titled EP on Artbeatz in 2015 further solidified her rising star status, with chart-topping singles like “Sit Still, Look Pretty.” Collaborations with renowned artists like the Chainsmokers and Gryffin, along with her own successful singles and EP releases, have cemented Daya’s position as a versatile and independent artist in the music industry.
