Michael Andrews

A versatile film composer, singer, songwriter, and producer, San Diego native Michael Andrews started his professional music journey in the early ’90s as the frontman and co-founder of West Coast alt-pop band the Origin. Later, he joined the genre-defying acid jazz group Greyboy Allstars under the moniker Elgin Park and scored his first film, ‘Zero Effect,’ in 1998. Andrews’ music contributions expanded to include cult comedy ‘Freaks & Geeks’ in 1998 and the iconic sci-fi drama ‘Donnie Darko’ in 2000, leading him to international fame with his rendition of Tears for Fears’ ‘Mad World.’ His versatile talent continued with solo projects like ‘Hand on a String’ in 2006 and ‘Spilling a Rainbow’ in 2012, alongside scoring blockbuster films such as ‘Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,’ ‘Funny People,’ ‘Bridesmaids,’ and ‘The Five-Year Engagement.’ Known for his comedic works, Andrews also composed music for ‘Tammy,’ ‘Sex Tape,’ ‘Dirty Grandpa,’ and ‘The Big Sick,’ establishing himself as a prominent figure in the industry. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
