Rob Hirst and Jim Moginie initiated their musical journey at school in 1972, ultimately forming Midnight Oil. The addition of Peter Garrett in 1975 and Martin Rotsey in the subsequent year solidified the band. Andrew James, the original bassist, was replaced by Peter Gifford until 1987, when Bones Hillman joined. Midnight Oil transcends the boundaries of a typical rock band, with their compelling narrative echoing through their music, as well as documented in various books and films.
