Puscifer

Maynard James Keenan is a versatile artist known for his contributions in bands like Tool and A Perfect Circle, but his creativity extends to his solo project, Puscifer. Puscifer serves as an emotional outlet for Keenan, where he explores darker themes and personal reflections that differ from the styles of Tool and A Perfect Circle. The uniqueness of Puscifer lies in its blend of introspective musings and humor, as evident in the unconventional titles of albums like V Is for Vagina, Donkey Punch the Night, and Money $hot. Keenan and his collaborators took a more serious tone in their fourth album, Existential Reckoning, released in response to the challenging global events of 2020.
In addition to his roles in Tool and A Perfect Circle, Maynard James Keenan delved into new musical territory in 2007 with the formation of Puscifer. Described by Keenan as a fusion of his core identities, Puscifer initially emerged as a fictional band in a comedy sketch before evolving into a project involving various artists. Operating as a collective rather than a traditional band, Puscifer allowed Keenan to collaborate with a dynamic lineup, including renowned musicians like Tim Alexander, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, and Milla Jovovich. The band’s discography showcases a diverse range of sounds, from dance-infused tracks to creative covers, reflecting Keenan’s experimental approach to music.
