Styx

Styx, which is composed of James “JY” Young, Tommy Shaw, Chuck Panozzo, Todd Sucherman, Lawrence Gowan, Will Evankovich, and Terry Gowan, has been captivating audiences for over five decades with their dynamic performances and distinctive sound. With an average of 100 shows annually, the band continually strives to enhance their artistry with each performance, offering a diverse repertoire of chart-topping hits, uplifting singalongs, and high-energy deep cuts. Styx’s breakthrough occurred with Tommy Shaw’s debut LP, “Crystal Ball,” in 1976, establishing them as the first band to achieve four consecutive triple-platinum albums: “The Grand Illusion” (1977), “Pieces of Eight” (1978), “Cornerstone” (1979), and “Paradise Theater” (1981). Their successful reunion for the “Return to Paradise” tour in 1996 was documented on CD and DVD in 1997.
The band’s collaboration with Cleveland’s Contemporary Youth Orchestra led to the creation of “One With Everything” in 2006, blending orchestral and rock music seamlessly. The release of the “Regeneration” volumes I & II (2011 & 2012) featured re-recorded classics, emphasizing Styx’s everlasting appeal. Styx continued their musical journey with the highly acclaimed album “The Mission” in 2017, hailed as a “masterpiece,” followed by “Crash of the Crown” in 2021, recorded during the pandemic. Drummer Todd Sucherman underlines the band’s dedication to bringing joy to millions, while Lawrence Gowan attributes their success to consistently excellent live performances. With a rich musical legacy and a commitment to live music experiences, Styx remains at the forefront, epitomizing the essence of rock and roll.
