Read MoreThe Maine
Arizona’s The Maine is renowned for their emotive pop-punk and indie rock sound, catapulting to fame with their Top 40 debut album, “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop,” in 2008. The band’s journey continued with their sophomore album, “Black & White,” reaching the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 in 2010 and achieving further success with albums like “Forever Halloween” in 2013, “American Candy” in 2015, and “Lovely Little Lonely” in 2017. Over the years, The Maine has evolved their musical style, progressing towards a more sophisticated and literary rock sound, showcased in their recent releases like “You Are OK” in 2019 and “XOXO: From Love and Anxiety in Real Time” in 2021.
Despite being named after a northeastern state, The Maine originated in Tempe, Arizona, in 2007, while the bandmates were still in high school. Comprising singer John O’Callaghan, guitarists Kennedy Brock and Jared Monaco, bassist Garrett Nickelsen, and drummer Pat Kirch, the group quickly infused their ’90s radio rock influences into their infectious pop-punk sound. The Maine’s musical journey began with a five-song concept EP, “The Way We Talk,” in 2007. Following a successful stint at the Vans Warped Tour, they released their debut album, “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop,” produced by Matt Squire, which led to a major-label deal with Warner Bros. in 2009. The band’s rise continued with their sophomore album, “Black & White,” in 2010, accompanied by their first headlining tour and Album of the Year recognition from Alternative Press.
In the years that followed, The Maine ventured into new territories, releasing albums like “Pioneer” in 2011 and “Forever Halloween” in 2013, expanding their musical horizons and garnering critical acclaim along the way. By 2015, their sound had matured, drawing comparisons to bands like the 1975, exemplified in the success of their album “American Candy.” The band’s commitment to their fans was evident through free promotional tours and intimate shows, further solidifying their connection with audiences. Embracing a melodic pop direction, The Maine explored covers of both classic and contemporary hits, showcasing their versatility and creativity. Their musical evolution continued with releases like “Lovely Little Lonely” in 2017, “You Are OK” in 2019, and their upcoming album, “XOXO: From Love and Anxiety in Real Time,” set to be unveiled in 2021.
