Tycho

Tycho, also known as Scott Hansen, is a renowned artist who skillfully blends swirling melodies into triumphant arcs, weaving them between stuttering beats and vocal samples to create expansive sonic landscapes that seem to stretch into the infinite horizon. Originating from San Francisco, Hansen made his musical debut in the early 2000s with The Science of Patterns EP. This was followed by his first full-length album, Sunrise Projector, in 2004, which was met with critical acclaim. Subsequent releases included Past Is Prologue in 2006. Over the years, the addition of collaborator and guitarist Zac Brown expanded Hansen’s creative endeavors, leading to the meticulous production of Dive in 2011, the initial installment of a trilogy that included Awake in 2014 and the GRAMMY-Nominated Epoch in 2016. Notable contributions from drummer Rory O’Connor enriched these albums. Hansen’s artistic vision further evolved with the incorporation of vocalist Saint Sinner in Weather, released in 2019, earning Tycho a second GRAMMY nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album. This was succeeded by the companion instrumental album Simulcast and collaborations with rum.gold, resulting in the Weather Remixes project in 2020. Besides his original compositions, Tycho has showcased his remixing skills on tracks by Odesza & Leon Bridges, Maggie Rogers, Spoon, The Knocks & Muna, Little Dragon, Thievery Corporation, and Death Cab For Cutie. Over the span of fifteen years, Tycho’s artistic journey has transitioned from a solo endeavor to a collective effort, expanding from electronic ambient experiments to a multi-dimensional audio-visual live performance that breathes life into his compositions.
