YoungBoy Never Broke Again

YoungBoy Never Broke Again, originally known as NBA YoungBoy, is a highly prolific rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a loyal following for his uncompromising street narratives. He emerged as a rising talent in 2015/2016, but his journey was interrupted by a six-month prison sentence. However, since his release in 2017, YoungBoy has been a regular presence on the Billboard charts, consistently releasing mixtapes, EPs, and singles. His debut album, ‘Until Death Call My Name,’ made its way to the Top Ten of the Billboard 200 in 2018, while his 2019 mixtape ‘AI YoungBoy 2’ secured the top spot. Throughout 2020, he maintained a strong position on the chart with multiple mixtapes and eventually achieved number one with his second album, ‘Top.’ Ending the year with another mixtape and a collaboration with Rich the Kid on ‘Nobody Safe,’ YoungBoy hit the top of the Billboard 200 once again in 2021 with ‘Sincerely, Kentrell,’ followed by reaching number two in 2022 with ‘The Last Slimeto.’
Born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden in Baton Rouge in 1999, YoungBoy was inspired by local artist Lil Phat and began his rap journey. In 2015, he released his debut mixtape, ‘Life Before Fame,’ followed by a trilogy titled ‘Mind of a Menace.’ Through his music, YoungBoy sheds light on his challenging upbringing, showcasing his lyrical talent reminiscent of artists like 21 Savage and Boosie Badazz. The release of ’38 Baby’ in 2016, featuring collaborations with Baton Rouge rappers like Badazz and Kevin Gates, marked a significant moment in his career. Despite uncertainties, his trajectory picked up post-prison with projects like ‘AI YoungBoy’ and collaborative ventures. His official full-length album, ‘Until Death Call My Name,’ earned platinum status and charted in the Top Ten of the Billboard 200. YoungBoy’s relentless work ethic led to a string of EPs, mixtapes, and chart-topping releases, solidifying his position as a leading figure in contemporary rap music.
