Paul Weller, renowned as “The Modfather,” is set to release his latest musical venture, a covers album titled Find El Dorado. The album, scheduled for release on July 25, 2025, marks Weller's return to the covers format, a first since his 2004 effort Studio 150. Find El Dorado involves an eclectic blend of songs and features a star-studded array of guest musicians. Among the distinguished contributors are Robert Plant, former frontman of Led Zeppelin, and Noel Gallagher of Oasis fame. With its rich line-up, this album promises to be a significant addition to Weller's prolific career.

Weller's choice of tracks for Find El Dorado spans a wide range of artists and eras, showcasing his diverse musical inspirations. The album comprises 15 tracks that have resonated with Weller over the years, enough to evolve into new interpretations. It includes songs originally by notable artists and bands such as the Bee Gees, The Kinks, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and more. Weller's statement on the album reflects his long-held affinity for these songs, which have “taken on new shapes over time.”

In addition to Weller’s selection of tracks, the album stands out for its collaborations. Notably, Robert Plant contributes vocals and harmonica to “Clive’s Song,” which was first recorded by Scottish folk singer Hamish Imlach. Noel Gallagher, known for his history of creative collaboration with Weller, plays acoustic guitar on “El Dorado,” a track originally written by Eamon Friel. Other collaborators include Declan O’Rourke, Amelia Coburn, Seckou Keita, and Hannah Peel, adding diverse musical textures to the album.

Among the tracks already released from Find El Dorado, “Lawdy Rolla” and “Pinball” serve as a testament to Weller's adeptness at reinterpreting songs. “Lawdy Rolla,” originally a 1969 recording by the obscure French outfit The Guerrillas, and “Pinball,” a Brian Protheroe hit from 1974, showcase Weller’s ability to infuse new life into classic tunes. These early releases set an anticipatory tone for the rest of the album, highlighting Weller’s skillful blend of homage and innovation.

The album is also a reflection of Weller’s enduring partnership with producer Steve Cradock, who is described as Ocean Colour Scene’s guitarist. This collaboration promises a polished and multifaceted sonic experience, further enhanced by its release under Warner/Parlophone Records—a label familiar with Weller’s work between 2015 and 2019. The label’s involvement ensures that the album is supported by industry veterans who understand Weller’s artistic vision.

Find El Dorado not only highlights Paul Weller's repertoire but also points to his continuing relevance and evolution in the music industry. The project underscores his ability to seamlessly bridge different musical worlds, from folk to rock, through covers that are as much tributes as they are fresh creations. For fans and new listeners alike, *Find El Dorado* promises to be a rich auditory journey through the sounds that have influenced Weller’s own iconic style.
