The Black Keys, the renowned duo from Ohio, are stepping back into the limelight with their new album, No Rain, No Flowers. Scheduled for release on August 8 through Easy Eye Sound and Parlophone Records, this album follows their 2024 record, *Ohio Players*. Described as “a labour of love,” this latest undertaking embodies a groove-driven, danceable vibe, indicating a slight diversion from their usual sound. This spirit of innovation is further evidenced by their selection of collaborators, including Grammy-winning songwriters Rick Nowels, known for his work with Lana Del Rey, and Daniel Tashian, as well as Scott Storch, famed for his keyboard prowess with hip-hop greats like Dr. Dre and The Roots.

The creation of No Rain, No Flowers was a laborious process overseen by Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney themselves at Easy Eye Sound Studios in Nashville. Carney explains, “We wanted to go straight to the source – into the room with people known for their songwriting.” He reflects on his early encounters with collaborator Daniel Tashian upon moving to Nashville, a connection that would prove to be enduring and influential. Auerbach also highlights the fresh experience of collaborating with a keyboard player of Nowels' caliber, explaining their immediate rapport and successful convergence of musical ideas.

The infectious energy and love poured into the album is evident in its lead single, “No Rain, No Flowers.” This track, described as breezy and summer-ready, sets a vibrant tone for the album. Auerbach’s upbeat lyrics juxtapose life's inevitable struggles with brighter days ahead: “Baby, the damage is done! It won’t be long till we’re back in the sun!” This reflectively optimistic approach is paired with a danceable beat, moving away from the guitar-centric sentiment that often characterizes The Black Keys, introducing a disco pulse that feels both refreshing and innovative.

As the band's 13th album, No Rain, No Flowers comes after a series of challenges, including low ticket sales leading to the cancellation of their 2024 arena tour and a criticized performance at a cryptocurrency-funded concert in Akron. Despite these adversities, Auerbach and Carney choose to face them head-on, focusing on their passion for music creation. This album marks a new chapter for the band, showcasing their resilience and dedicated artistry over more than two decades.

The album will be available in various formats, ready for pre-order, and features an 11-song tracklist that includes “The Night Before” and “Babygirl,” singles introduced earlier this year. With their unwavering dedication to their craft, The Black Keys remain committed to producing music that resonates both with their existing loyal fanbase and new listeners alike. Their upcoming North American and European tour, titled *No Rain, No Flowers Tour*, will kick off on May 23 in Durant, Oklahoma, and span the globe through September.
