Satin Jackets
For a decade now the name Satin Jackets has been synonymous with sublimely laidback Balearic house and sun kissed disco. The brainchild of German producer Tim Bernhardt who, following a successful career producing house music under a variety of different aliases, launched Satin Jackets as a vehicle to explore his lifelong love of disco and the clean, polished productions of artists like CHIC and Trevor Horn. ‘I had always been fascinated by just how glossy people like Nile Rogers made their music,’ Bernhardt explains. ‘It always sounded like the musical equivalent of a fashion magazine’s cover. I’d been making somewhat more underground music for a while but really wanted to go in totally the other direction and create this really smooth, polished sound.’ That first Satin Jackets release, the dreamlike You Make Me Feel Good, would set the tone for what was to come. Released on the iconic Belgian label Eskimo Recordings, which had previously helped launch the careers of artists like Aeroplane and Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas, it was an instant hit. Its graceful melodies, airy textures and yearning chorus became the soundtrack to the setting sun at parties worldwide.
With almost metronomic precision You Make Me Feel Good was followed by a string of acclaimed singles and remixes for some of the genre’s biggest names, including Goldroom and Blank & Jones, establishing Bernhardt as one of the most exciting new names in the nu-disco scene. While the face behind the mask may have remained a mystery, Satin Jackets’ warm, polished take on disco soon made the name familiar to music lovers around the world. Taking things to the next level, 2016’s debut Satin Jackets album, Panorama Pacifico, firmly cemented Bernhardt’s position as both Eskimo’s flagship artist and as one of the biggest nu-disco producers around. Winning praise from the likes of Mixmag, DJ Mag and Groove, the album has gone on to click up over 75 million streams on Spotify alone, and Satin Jackets’ golden mask has become a regular fixture behind the decks at clubs and festivals from Mexico City to Seoul. 2019’s follow up, Solar Nights, would see Bernhardt further develop and refine the Satin Jackets sound. Rapturously received by fans, DJs and press alike, the album, propelled by singles like the global hit ‘Northern Lights’, proved that, much like the original disco artists that first inspired the project, Bernhardt was just as capable of crafting radio friendly pop hits as tracks for the dance floor.
While the pandemic may have put plans for global tours and festival appearances on hold, Bernhardt kept himself busy as clubland went into hibernation. Having relocated to Munich just before lockdown, a succession of singles that ranged from out-and-out pop collaborations to instrumental, chilled-out tracks as well as a series of live Lockdown Streams kept Bernhardt in touch with his ever growing legion of fans. Indeed, it was those Lockdown Streams and the response from his fans that allowed Bernhardt to rediscover, in his own words, ‘the connection between what I do and what people feel’ and sow the seeds for what was to come. Now as we emerge blinking into the new world, Bernhardt returns with Satin Jackets’ third album, the aptly titled Reunion. Where the first two Satin Jackets albums saw Bernhardt work to first develop his own sound and then elevate his productions to another level, Reunion reveals a musician and producer wholly at ease with both his abilities in the studio and artistic vision. From blissful instrumental tracks that seem to effortlessly float above the clouds, through to bittersweet wistful pop songs featuring the likes of Australian star Panama, Belgian singer Ivy Falls, US based vocalist Metaxas and up-and-coming British singer Tailor, Reunion is a strikingly confident album that layers new depths and dimensions to the Satin Jackets sound and sets the stage for the next exciting chapter of the Satin Jackets story.

“Trying to write a good song is a nightmare,” is Elly Jackson’s candid view on the creative process. This reflection resonates years after her second album release, which followed a five-year gap from her 2009 debut. However, Elly clarifies that the essence lies in not trying too hard. She elaborates, “If you try, the music lacks authenticity. True creation emerges when you let go of control from the start.”
While crafting Supervision, her third album released on Feb 7, 2020, under her label Supercolour Records, Elly stumbled upon a revelation: the key is to surrender to the music without overthinking. She states, “During the entire album production, I never deliberated. Music creation was organic; melodies and lyrics flowed effortlessly in a single burst of inspiration. I realized that, for the first time, the lyrics mirrored my genuine emotions.” La Roux burst onto the music scene in 2009, a time when British pop exuded a sense of boundless possibilities. La Roux’s hit singles, including ‘In For The Kill,’ ‘Quicksand,’ and ‘Bulletproof,’ dominated the airwaves. ‘Bulletproof’ soared to No.1 in the UK, achieved Top 10 status in the US, and charted across the globe from Australia to Slovakia. La Roux’s debut album, a multi-million seller, Mercury Prize nominee, and platinum record, conquered international charts, earned a Grammy for Best Electronic/Dance Album, garnered multiple Brit Award nods, and received acclaim at the Ivor Novellos.
Eric Prydz
For over 20 years, Eric Prydz has been synonymous with immaculately produced and unique sounding electronic music. The Platinum-selling artist is responsible for some of the biggest progressive house tracks, not to mention some of the most technically impressive live shows of any touring artist – HOLO/EPIC. Prydz has headlined some of the world’s most storied venues, Madison Square Garden to Brixton Academy & Alexandra Palace, earned multiple Grammy nominations, hosted an ongoing radio show for Beats1 and topped charts with his alter-egos Pryda and Cirez D. It’s his dedication to his craft as a producer and DJ that leaves him in the highly enviable and singular position of appealing to dance music’s underground connoisseurs and main-stage masses alike.
Pryda is Prydz’s most well-known alias, one whose sound is replicated endlessly in dance music. Listen to the discographies of any current electronic music success and you can hear Pryda’s influence—the ‘Pryda Sound,’ comprised of immaculately layered melodies and harmonies, is now almost a sub-genre unto itself. Cirez D offers a different perspective, a stark contrast to the rich melodies of Pryda, its stripped-back techno dark, raw, and designed for ominous warehouses and long, late-night sets. It’s a deliberate point of focus for Prydz, who relishes playing those environments, and Cirez D, like his other monikers, offers him the freedom to make and release the records that he wants to play, unconstrained by expectations.
Lost Frequencies
Belgian producer Lost Frequencies has achieved massive international success with his sunny yet wistful dance tracks, remixes, and collaborations. Beginning with his 2014 breakout hit “Are You with Me,” a tropical house track based on a country song by Easton Corbin, he topped the charts in his home country five times, and released more than a dozen tracks that have been certified gold, platinum, or diamond. The song appeared on his 2016 full-length Less Is More, along with other major hits like “Reality” (featuring Janieck Devy) and a cover of Haddaway’s “What Is Love.” 2019’s Alive and Feeling Fine included further smashes like “Crazy” (with Zonderling) and “Melody” (featuring James Blunt). After releasing the EP Cup of Beats in 2020, Lost Frequencies scored further hits with 2021’s “Rise” and “Where Are You Now” (with Calum Scott), 2022’s “Questions” (with James Arthur), and 2023’s country-infused “The Feeling.”
Felix de Laet began creating homemade remixes as soon as he got his first laptop, and started using the moniker Lost Frequencies in 2014. His original productions ranged from jazzy deep house to downtempo and trap beats. Lost Frequencies signed to Armada Music, the Dutch trance label co-founded by Armin van Buuren, and his first release was “Are You with Me,” a dance-pop song built around a sample from the identically titled song by American country singer Easton Corbin. The track was an immediate hit, spending several months on dance charts throughout Europe. Lost Frequencies remixed singles by Armin van Buuren and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and released his second single, “Reality,” in 2015. Featuring Dutch singer/songwriter Janieck Devy, the song was another huge hit, topping charts in several countries.
Lost Frequencies issued his debut full-length, Less Is More, the following year. The album featured his previously released hits as well as “Beautiful Life” (featuring Sandro Cavazza) and “All or Nothing” with Axel Ehnström. Other guests included Jake Reese, Nick Schilder, and Joakim Wilow. A deluxe version arrived in 2017, adding additional track “Here with You” with Netsky. A steady stream of singles carried de Laet into 2019, including “Crazy” with Zonderling (the producer’s fifth Belgian chart-topper), “Melody” with James Blunt, and “Recognise” with Flynn. All three tracks later appeared on his second full-length, Alive and Feeling Fine, which was released in October of that year.
