The breadth of international artists that we find across Major Lazer’s albums—from Guns Don’t Kill People…Lazers Do, to their latest Music Is The Weapon—illustrates this ethos. This desire to free oneself from codes, to break down barriers, is at the heart of Music is the Weapon. Released in October 2020, this new LP is carried by a list of prestigious names, with universes that could not be more varied. Among them: reggaeton superstar J. Krewella is the boundless electronic duo comprised of sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf. Born in Houston to a Pakistani father and German-Lithuanian-American mother, their multicultural background influences their art. Always experimental, they’ve carved out their own niche in EDM. Krewella began as high schoolers in 2007 and broke into the scene in 2012 with their chart-topping self-released debut EP, Play Hard.
