Suicidal Tendencies
Suicidal Tendencies, a band formed in Venice, California during the early ’80s, made a significant impact on the music scene with their controversial name. The group, led by outspoken vocalist Mike Muir, initially specialized in vicious hardcore, attracting a devoted following among skateboarders and contributing to the emergence of skatepunk. As their career progressed, Suicidal Tendencies transitioned towards thrash metal, facing challenges such as difficulties in booking shows due to rumors of gang affiliations and violence at performances. Despite the obstacles, their self-titled debut album released in 1983 under the indie label Frontier gained immense popularity, especially with the track “Institutionalized” receiving extensive airplay on MTV.
Influential for future speed/thrash metal bands, Suicidal Tendencies struggled to secure record deals and faced bans from playing in Los Angeles. Over the years, lineup changes occurred, with the band finding a home with Caroline Records and later Epic. Their musical evolution was evident in albums like ‘Join the Army,’ ‘How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can’t Even Smile Today,’ and ‘Lights, Camera, Revolution,’ incorporating elements of funk and attracting a diverse audience. The group’s experimental phase led to unique releases like ‘The Art of Rebellion’ and collaborations on side projects like Infectious Grooves. Despite disbanding after ‘Suicidal for Life’ in 1994, Suicidal Tendencies continued to influence the music scene with various projects and reunions, culminating in studio releases and compilations.
After a hiatus, Suicidal Tendencies returned with new studio albums in the 2010s, including ’13’ and ‘World Gone Mad,’ showcasing different lineups and musical directions. The band’s resilience and creativity were highlighted in releases like ‘Get Your Fight On!’ and ongoing projects with members venturing into solo careers or joining other bands. The legacy of Suicidal Tendencies endures, marked by their innovation in blending hardcore and metal genres, leaving a lasting imprint on the music industry and influencing generations of musicians.
Fear Factory
One can’t overstate the size of the Fear Factory boot print on the neck of heavy metal. Unleashing influential albums with devastating anthems for over 30 years, Fear Factory is widely recognized as both crucial and innovative in extreme metal circles. Fear Factory manufactured, demanufactured, and remanufactured a sound that reverberates across several subgenres. They perfected an explosive blend of staccato paint-stripping riffs, industrial-tinged drums, electronic flourishes, and a scream/sing dichotomy, all of which became staples in heavy music, ever since the group first emerged in L.A.
Fear Factory records are cinematic in scope; sonic landscapes, echoing the dystopian post-apocalyptic futures found in classic sci-fi literature and films, from Ray Bradbury to Blade Runner. Aggression Continuum, the tenth studio album, is the culmination of three decades of unforgettable songs, performances, and forward-thinking storytelling concepts, while simultaneously rebooting Fear Factory onto a brilliant and excitingly unpredictable new path.
Aggression Continuum boasts the definitive attack of songs like “Recode,” “Distruptor,” and “Purity.” The riffs, concepts, and passion remain strong, as Fear Factory celebrates its past, present, and future. Whatever may come, Fear Factory will be there, a soundtrack to humankind’s uncertain times ahead.
Good Charlotte
We started in 1996, while in high school down in Southern Maryland. We had no idea how it all worked or how we’d get noticed way out there in the country. So we started playing any where and every where we could around the DMV. By the time we got to 1999 we had ourselves a record deal with Epic records and we got our shot. If you listen thru the catalog you may be able to feel our joy and pain, our confusion and realization. Our growth and our naivety. We have always been honest with each passing moment, about where we were at. Something beautiful about those pictures that make you blush. The ones you don’t really want anyone to see. The honest truth.
Now we spend our time being inspired by our families, Artist we love new and old, and ideas we feel compelled to explore. If there’s some idea, information or resource we have to give or share, that’s where we thrive. We Cherish GC for the opportunity it gave us to lift ourselves from poverty and low self esteem, and to charge forward into the world and find out what type of men we wanted to be. We feel deep gratitude for the positive vibrations and love we get to share with everyone who spends their time listening to our music. This is more than a band for us. It’s a journey of personal growth, expression and evolution. Never need to wonder, if we are on or off, together or apart, active or inactive. GC is at the heart of an even bigger idea that continues to unfold. It’s the origin story. GC will never die.

They regularly headline some of the biggest stages and festivals in the world.
Foregone, the furious fourteenth studio album, combines the greatest aggressive, metallic, and melodic strengths of their landmark records with the seasoned songwriting of their postmodern era. A sense of pride, accomplishment, and continued vitality are evident every time the band takes the stage, and all over Foregone. Melodic death metal pioneers and innovative purveyors of groove, the artistry, influence, stature, and future of In Flames loom as large as the heavy metal horizon itself.

Gonzalez’s profound exploration of memories, melancholy, and dreams has significantly influenced the musical landscape of the early 21st century. From the expansive soundscapes of ‘Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts’ in 2003 to the nostalgic homage to ’80s pop in ‘Saturdays = Youth’ in 2008, Gonzalez’s willingness to push musical boundaries and his nostalgic retrospection have set him apart from his peers. M83’s music, characterized by its evocative mood, has found a natural home in various blockbuster and art film soundtracks, solidifying Gonzalez’s position as a visionary artist.
Anthony Gonzalez, along with his brother Yann, a filmmaker and occasional member of M83, hails from Antibes, France. Despite initially pursuing a passion for football, a pivotal injury redirected Gonzalez towards music at the age of 14. Gifted a guitar by his parents, Gonzalez co-founded the band ‘My Violent Wish’ with Nicolas Fromageau during his secondary school years. Venturing into the realm of synths in his late teens, Gonzalez’s demo caught the attention of local labels, leading to a collaboration with the Parisian electronic label ‘Gooom Records.’ Naming the project after the M83 galaxy, Gonzalez and Fromageau’s debut self-titled album in 2001 showcased their innovative approach to music production, blending electronic beats with shoegaze elements to critical acclaim.
Following a transformative period with M83’s second album ‘Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts,’ Gonzalez continued to evolve the project, incorporating vocals and rhythmic consistency in ‘Before the Dawn Heals Us’ in 2005. Subsequent releases like ‘Saturdays = Youth’ in 2008 and the Grammy-nominated ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’ in 2011 marked a significant shift towards anthemic ’80s-inspired sounds and grandiose compositions. Gonzalez’s creative trajectory extended to film scores, notably with the success of ‘Oblivion’ in 2013 and ‘Knife+Heart’ in 2019, showcasing his versatility and musical depth. With each release, Gonzalez’s music continues to captivate audiences worldwide, culminating in the vibrant musical journey of ‘Fantasy’ in 2023, exemplifying M83’s enduring legacy in the realm of dreamy, immersive soundscapes.

Are Chip and Jesse the same person? In fact, Chip has always been behind-the-scenes. He stepped into the spotlight on the 2019 single “Middle of Somewhere.” “I wanted to do something totally new,” Jesse revealed. “We had a plan to do a music video for ‘Middle of Somewhere,’ and I showed up in spandex and paint!
