Talking Heads
At the beginning of their journey, Talking Heads showcased nervous energy, detached emotion, and subdued minimalism. Over a span of approximately 12 years, the band’s musical evolution witnessed a transition from art-funk to polyrhythmic worldbeat explorations and simple, melodic guitar pop. Between the years 1977 and 1988, Talking Heads emerged as one of the most revered bands of the ’80s, garnering critical acclamation alongside achieving several hit songs. Despite some critics finding their music overly experimental, clever, and intellectual, at their peak, Talking Heads epitomized the essence of art-school punks.
The foundation of Talking Heads was laid in their art-school roots. Guitarist/vocalist David Byrne, drummer Chris Frantz, and bassist Tina Weymouth crossed paths at the Rhode Island School of Design in the early ’70s before relocating to New York in 1974 to dedicate themselves to music. By 1976, with the addition of keyboardist Jerry Harrison, the band earned a remarkable opportunity to open for the iconic the Ramones at the renowned New York punk venue CBGB. The following year marked the release of their debut album, Talking Heads: 77, which received praise for its stripped-down rock & roll sound, characterized by Byrne’s quirky, intellectually driven lyrics and distinct vocals.
Transitioning into their subsequent albums, Talking Heads collaborated with producer Brian Eno on 1978’s More Songs About Buildings and Food, crafting an assortment of meticulously structured, artful pop tunes. The band’s musical journey continued with the Eno-produced Fear of Music, where they increasingly leaned into African-inspired polyrhythms. This fusion reached its peak with Remain in Light in 1980, produced once again by Eno, as Talking Heads delved deeper into a complex blend of African percussion, funk elements, pop melodies, and electronic experimentation. The band’s musical odyssey saw various phases, from extensive tours to solo endeavors, eventually marking a hiatus with the release of the album Naked in 1988, blending worldbeat influences with Byrne’s lyrical introspection.
Who on Earth
Who on Earth is a New Jersey quintet that has embraced the essence of hard rock and heavy metal with authenticity and passion, void of any gimmicks. Their debut album, “BLAME,” showcases their powerful blend of hard-hitting hooks, precise instrumentation, and aggressive grooves.
The band, Who on Earth, pays respect to the roots of rock while forging ahead into a new era. They bring back the nostalgia of sing-along choruses, electrifying guitar solos, and the infectious swagger of classic rock. With influences from the hard rock legends of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, Who on Earth reveres the past while injecting a modern, self-assured sound into their music. Fans of Iron Maiden, Tool, and Volbeat will find a thrilling connection with Who on Earth’s dynamic and energetic style.

Blue October
The alternative band from Houston, TX known as Blue October comprises Justin Furstenfeld (vocals, guitar, songwriter), Jeremy Furstenfeld (drums), Ryan Delahoussaye (violin, mandolin, piano), Matt Noveskey (bass), and Steve Schiltz (guitar). With a track record of consistent evolution in every release, the band is gearing up for their thirteenth studio album, tentatively titled Everything We Lost In The Fire, a new creative masterpiece in the making.
Frontman Justin Furstenfeld expresses his celebration of change through the forthcoming album, stating, “The heaviest times of our lives is when we have to make difficult decisions. Change can be a beautiful part of life if you celebrate it. This is me celebrating change in the loudest way possible.” Despite a rigorous two-year period of recording and touring, Justin Furstenfeld wasted no time and dove straight back into the studio to channel the creativity that led to the birth of a new album. The lead single, ‘Everything We Lost In The Fire,’ promises a sound heavier than ever before, resonating with a message of embracing change amidst roaring guitars and powerful drums.
Wolfmother
Pledging allegiance to thick, throttling fuzz guitars, primal psychedelia, and thundering rhythms, the 21st-century rock revivalists Wolfmother split the difference between the classic sludge of Black Sabbath and the retro-garage rock of the White Stripes. Formed by lead guitarist/vocalist Andrew Stockdale in 2000, Wolfmother spent a few years woodshedding before the power trio came storming out of Sydney, Australia in 2006 with a self-titled debut that generated international hits in the form of “Woman” and “Joker And The Thief”. Wolfmother, the album, turned into a big hit; eventually being certified quintuple platinum in Australia. Other territories soon followed with the album performing well in each of them thanks to the singles “White Unicorn”, “Woman”, and “Joker & the Thief”, along with a host of film, television, and video game placements, not to mention constant touring with a focus on festivals. A new track “Victorious” was issued as a pre-release single in November, and followed by a second “Gypsy Caravan” in January 2016. In February, the album Victorious was released. Recorded in Hollywood, it was produced by Brendan O’Brien, the lineup listed Stockdale on guitars, basses, and vocals, Peres on keyboards, and drummers Josh Freese and Joey Waronker.

Read MoreKnocked Loose
As Knocked Loose chipped away at what would become their 3rd album, they felt the pressure from all sides. Internally, there was the need to challenge themselves as songwriters while retaining the merciless intensity and unflinching honesty that have always been their calling cards. Externally, there was a whole new set of eyes on the Louisville quintet, following a banner year in which they’d brought their underground-seasoned sound to some of the world’s biggest stages such as Coachella and Bonnaroo.
The creative process was arduous, writing close to 40 songs across a span of 4 years before locking in the 10 tracks that make up new LP You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To. In the end, vocalist Bryan Garris, guitarists Isaac Hale & Nicko Calderon, bassist Kevin Otten & drummer Kevin “Pac Sun” Kaine honed a diverse, cohesive and savagely intense album that both sums up the massive strides they’ve taken during their decade as a band, & asserts their boundless potential going forward. There’s no ceiling for hardcore in 2024 — even an outfit as uncompromising as Knocked Loose can turn up in mainstream-adjacent spaces and win over new fans. But there’s a center to what they do that will never change: uncompromising heaviness, sonically & thematically. Everywhere Knocked Loose have been is here on this record — but so is everywhere they may yet go.
House of Protection
House of Protection, the new venture from Stephen Harrison and Aric Improta, serves as a sanctuary for those who surrender to impulse. Abandoning regard for tradition or form, they followed a feeling and unearthed a sound that sees them push their limits further than ever before. Bridging the not-so-disparate worlds of hardcore, electronica, and punk, they forged a space for boundless creativity.
Between their shared experience with Fever 333, Aric’s ongoing work with experimental rock group Night Verses and Steve’s turn as guitarist for iconic post-hardcore band The Chariot, the pair are renowned in the world of heavy music for never being afraid of extremes. House of Protection is a continuation of that unabashed self-expression, bottled into a snarling vessel of anger, uncertainty, joy, and creativity. “We wanted to create something where all our ideas, no matter how wild, felt safe,” says Steve. That’s the foundation for which House of Protection was built upon, arming their audience with a level of fearlessness and bliss that blurs the line between crowd and performers. Teaming up with close friends Jordan Fish (ex Bring Me The Horizon) & Nick DePirro (Night Verses), they created the sprawling, urgent debut single ‘It’s Supposed To Hurt.’ “We knew it wasn’t going to be easy to start again from scratch but that phrase became our ethos” offers Aric. House of Protection thrive in the margins of unpredictability, where anything goes and all are invited. Welcome home.
Lita Ford
Lita Ford, born on September 19, 1958, in London, is one of the two solo stars who emerged from the ’70s all-girl hard rock band the Runaways. Contrary to her former colleague Joan Jett, Ford’s musical approach subtly embraces feminism by showcasing guitar heroics at the level of any male metal icon. Despite criticism for appealing to male adolescent fantasies, Ford stands as a heroic figure in the male-dominated heavy metal genre. When backed by strong material, Ford demonstrates her ability to rock aggressively and assertively.
After joining the Runaways, a project aimed at blending punky hard rock with teenage bad-girl sex appeal, Ford transitioned into a successful solo career. Overcoming challenges through various jobs, Ford released her debut album, ‘Out for Blood,’ in 1983. Following a hiatus and label switch, Ford’s 1988 album ‘Lita’ marked her breakthrough, featuring hit songs like ‘Kiss Me Deadly’ and ‘Close My Eyes Forever’ with Ozzy Osbourne. Subsequent albums like ‘Stiletto’ and ‘Dangerous Curves’ faced mixed commercial success, leading to a label change and a pivot towards heavier music with ‘Wicked Wonderland’ in 2009. Ford’s personal life intertwined with her music career, as she married musicians and faced divorce, themes reflected in her albums like ‘Living Like a Runaway’ in 2012. Her tell-all autobiography and album ‘Time Capsule’ in 2016 solidified her legacy in the rock music scene.
Many Eyes
MANY EYES is the highly anticipated new band fronted by Keith Buckley, the former singer/frontman for Metalcore stalwarts, Every Time I Die. The group includes Charlie Bellmore (Guitar, Bass), Nick Bellmore (Drums, Bass, Backing Vocals). With “Revelation” being the first taste of things to come from the newly completed MANY EYES album due for release in 2024, ‘Mystic Cord’ and now “Future Proof” are its follow-up. While the music will please long-time ETID fans, it digs deeper and is more panoramic in taste and tone harkening back to 90’s style hallelujah choruses that showcase the depth of Keith’s voice.
“This is an expression of who I am,” Buckley proclaims. “I’m letting the music do the talking. I really trusted my collaborators. I’m not interested in being known as a frontman. I just want to be another part of the band who uses his own instrument to complete the picture. ‘Revelation’ and ‘Mystic Cord’ were both produced/mixed by Nick Bellmore and mastered by Randy Merrill (Cage The Elephant, Imagine Dragons, Foo Fighters). The project is executive produced by Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed, Jasta). The new MANY EYES aesthetic & artwork created by Nick Steinhardt (from Touché Amoré) & Ryan Sanders at MDRN DVSN (Paul McCartney, Architects, Deafheaven, Coheed & Cambria, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers).
Catch the band on tour in early 2024 with Thursday and Rival Schools. For dates, please visit MANY EYES’ socials and official website.
Autograph
Autograph is a talented hard rock band known for their hook-driven music that rose to fame in 1984 with their pop-metal hit “Turn Up the Radio.” The band’s unique blend of sophisticated and melodic AOR combined with pop-metal elements has often been compared to iconic artists like Van Halen, Fastway, and Slade. Originating from Los Angeles, California in 1983, Autograph was founded by vocalist Steve Plunkett, guitarist Steve Lynch, bassist Randy Rand, keyboard player Steven Isham, and drummer Keni Richards. They quickly secured a record deal with RCA and released their debut album, Sign in Please, in 1984. The album featured hit singles such as “Send Her to Me” and the now-classic ’80s anthem, “Turn Up the Radio.” Their second album, That’s the Stuff, released in 1985, produced energetic singles like “Blondes in Black Cars” and the powerful title track. Autograph went on to tour alongside renowned bands like Mötley Crüe and Heart. Despite facing challenges with label support, their album Loud and Clear in 1987 did not achieve the same success as their previous works. The band ultimately parted ways with RCA in 1988 and disbanded in 1989. However, Autograph reunited in 2014, excluding Plunkett, for various music festivals, and made a comeback in 2015 with their first new single in years, “You Are Us, We Are You.” They later released a five-song EP titled Louder in 2016 and signed with David Ellefson of Megadeth’s EMP label in 2017. Their long-awaited fourth studio album, Get Off Your Ass, finally hit the shelves. Sadly, bassist Randy Rand passed away on April 26, 2022, at the age of 62.
