Turnstile has unveiled an exhilarating new double single and music video featuring the tracks “Seein' Stars” and “Birds,” further heightening anticipation for their forthcoming album Never Enough. Scheduled for release on June 6th through Roadrunner Records, the album marks the band's first full-length project since their critically acclaimed Glow On album in 2021, which received Grammy nominations. This new release is a significant step in Turnstile's evolving sound, showcasing a fusion of punk and diverse musical elements that have come to define their style.

“Seein' Stars,” the first of the two tracks, diverges from Turnstile's hardcore roots, embracing a funky, new wave influence that is both innovative and refreshing. Featuring contributions from Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes, the track layers sophisticated pop elements over a disco-esque guitar riff that channels the spirit of 80s music greats like David Bowie. This eclectic blend of pop and punk underscores Turnstile's ability to remain unpredictable yet consistently captivating. The track has been described as being comparable to genres explored by artists such as the Police and Tame Impala, adding yet another dimension to Turnstile's already varied repertoire.

In stark contrast, “Birds” delivers a more traditional hardcore punch, sticking closer to the band's roots. It opens with a synth drone that builds into a fast-paced anthem, characterized by high-energy drum sequences and powerful vocal deliveries. The track epitomizes a Bad Brains-inspired hardcore sound, maintaining the intense, mosh-inducing energy that Turnstile fans have come to adore. Lead vocalist Brendan Yates's contribution is compelling as always, pushing the boundaries of punk with his raw vocal performance.

The music video, co-directed by Yates and guitarist Pat McCrory, seamlessly merges both songs into a visual narrative that captures the distinct moods of each track. For “Seein' Stars,” the video features dancers in an otherworldly black void, moving elegantly to the music—a visual metaphor for the song's dreamy and innovative essence. The scene then transitions into a more vibrant setting for “Birds,” where Turnstile performs to a lively crowd staged on a scenic hillside, adding a layer of narrative continuity and visual coherence to the listening experience.

The release of “Seein' Stars” and “Birds” sets the stage for Turnstile's upcoming live performances. They are scheduled to hit significant music festivals across Europe and the UK, including Primavera Sound in Spain and the Glastonbury Festival in the UK. The band is also hosting a record-release show beneath the K Bridge in Brooklyn, featuring artists like Teezo Touchdown and Big Boy. These appearances showcase Turnstile’s growing international presence and underline their status as key figures in the contemporary punk scene.

The anticipation surrounding Never Enough is palpable, not just because it marks their latest collection of work but also due to its significance in the band's artistic journey. With the introduction of new guitarist Meg Mills, the album represents a fresh chapter in Turnstile's story, promising more adventurous compositions and rich collaborations. These new tracks reinforce Turnstile’s reputation for pushing musical boundaries while maintaining a deep connection with their core sound—a fearless approach that continues to resonate with fans old and new.
