Alice in Chains guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell is gearing up for his upcoming U.S. tour in support of his latest solo album, “I Want Blood.” Set to kick off on August 16 in San Diego, this month-long tour marks a continuation of Cantrell's solo journey, which began in earnest with the release of his second-to-last album, “Brighten,” back in 2021. Cantrell's latest offering, “I Want Blood,” released late last year, has been praised by various media outlets for its raw and resolute style, a blend of brooding melodies with intense guitar work and introspective lyrics. This four-week tour will see Cantrell visiting several cities across the U.S., including major stops in Dallas, Orlando, Cleveland, and Minneapolis, before concluding in Kansas City on September 14.

Cantrell has partnered with the band Filter as his supporting act for this tour, a collaboration that brings an extra layer of grunge appeal to the tour lineup. Tickets for this tour will be available soon, with sales beginning on Thursday, showcasing the high demand for Cantrell's live performances. While Jerry Cantrell's work with Alice in Chains still resonates deeply with fans, his solo work stands as a testament to his enduring creativity and talent. His latest album, “I Want Blood,” showcases Cantrell at his most introspective, with a thunderous soundscape that has been well-received by fans and critics alike.

The upcoming tour follows a period of international performances, as Cantrell has recently completed a European tour that stretched from late May through June, covering cities in Italy, Poland, Germany, and beyond. This European leg also included performances at some of the continent’s most renowned festivals, such as Rock Im Park and Rock Am Ring in Germany, showcasing the album to a wide array of international audiences. These performances not only highlight Cantrell’s international appeal but also set the stage for his highly anticipated U.S. dates.

The “I Want Blood” album itself is available in various formats, including digital, CD, and multiple 2LP vinyl variants, as well as a deluxe spoken-word edition featuring contributions from notable musicians and producers. This variety in format ensures that listeners can experience the album in whichever medium they prefer. Additionally, Cantrell's collaboration with producer Joe Barresi and others has led to an animated video series by Boy Tillekens, viewable on YouTube, further expanding the album's artistic footprint.

Cantrell’s career extends beyond his solo projects and his work with Alice in Chains. He has contributed to major film soundtracks such as “Spider-Man” and “John Wick 2,” adding another dimension to his multifaceted career. Despite the challenges faced due to the recent health issues of Alice in Chains drummer Sean Kinney, Cantrell’s solo career continues to thrive, serving as both an homage to his past successes and a bold step into the future of rock music.
