Elton John, 77, recently revealed that he has been left with “limited vision” due to a severe eye infection. This startling disclosure came as the renowned musician spoke candidly about his condition during recent public appearances, highlighting the significant impact this has had on his life and career. The cause of his vision loss traces back to July when he contracted an eye infection while in the south of France. Despite the best efforts of a team of doctors and medical personnel, the infection resulted in the loss of vision in his right eye, and his left eye not performing optimally. According to John, the process of regaining his eyesight is gradual and requires patience and optimism.

The revelation was made during a gala performance of “The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical” in London, where John expressed his gratitude towards his support system, including his family and especially his husband, David Furnish. Despite the challenges posed by his limited vision, John has continued to engage with his musical projects. He proudly scored the music for the musical adaptation of the film “The Devil Wears Prada,” yet he has been unable to attend many previews due to his eyesight issues. John's positive attitude towards his recovery was evident as he expressed hope for eventual improvement while acknowledging the slow healing process.

John's situation has affected his professional engagements as well. In interviews with platforms such as ‘Good Morning America', he explained how this setback poses challenges to his ability to record and perform since reading lyrics has become difficult. However, he has found solace and motivation in his creative undertakings, including his recent music projects and an upcoming documentary titled “Elton John: Never Too Late,” which looks back on his illustrious career and highlights his last North American concert.
