Renowned rock icon Ozzy Osbourne, alongside accomplished guitarist Billy Morrison, has released a new single titled “Gods of Rock N Roll.” Originally appearing on Morrison's 2015 album God Shaped Hole, the track has been reimagined to feature a symphonic flair with a powerful orchestral arrangement. This updated version emphasizes the grandiosity that both musicians envisioned since its conception a decade ago. The new rendition of the song includes the incredible talents of a 61-piece Budapest Scoring Orchestra and is complemented by the vibrant harmonies of the John Burroughs High School choir, adding layers of richness and depth.

The collaborative efforts on “Gods of Rock N Roll” have resulted in a track that is both vast and emotive, with Morrison on guitar and Osbourne providing his signature vocals. Billy Morrison described the re-recording as the song's realization of its destined form, stating that the incorporation of the orchestra and choir truly brings the ballad to life. This project required significant dedication and collaboration among several talented individuals, including the noted rock guitarist Steve Stevens, who contributed his skillful lead guitar work.

Osbourne and Morrison share a longstanding friendship, which has significantly contributed to their creative synergy. The duo initially composed “Gods of Rock N Roll” during a hotel stay in South America. According to Osbourne, it took ten years for Morrison to embrace the full potential of the track, finally including the sweeping orchestral elements that Osbourne had envisioned from the start. The orchestral score, masterfully composed by Fred Coury, and mixed by Barry Pointer, along with the precision of famed mastering engineer David Donnelly, have collectively ensured that the song's expansive sound is delivered at its finest quality.

This latest release forms part of the deluxe edition of “The Morrison Project,” and complements an album revered for its collaborative spirit with contributions from prominent artists like Corey Taylor, Steve Vai, and Cypress Hill. Morrison’s dedication to creative endeavors is reflected in his choice not to tour the album, preferring to maintain its authenticity rather than dilute its impact through live performances that might not capture the original magic.

For both Morrison and Osbourne, “Gods of Rock N Roll” signifies more than just a musical piece; it represents a journey of artistic evolution and collaboration. As the song climbs the charts and resonates with audiences, it reinforces their status in the annals of rock history. The integration of a 61-piece orchestra and high school choir ensures that this song stands out not only as a testament to their friendship but also as a milestone in their careers, highlighting the dynamic synergy that can blossom when talents converge with a shared vision.
