38 Special Extends 2026 Tour With 30 More Fall and Winter Dates

38 Special has expanded its 2026 touring schedule with nearly 25 additional fall shows, bringing the band’s remaining dates for the year to 30. The tour, which supports the band’s new album ‘Milestone,’ now runs mostly through August and October and is scheduled to close on November 7 in Kansas City, Missouri at Ameristar Casino Hotel.

The newly added shows were confirmed after the tour was originally announced earlier in the year. ‘Milestone,’ released in 2025, is 38 Special’s first new album in more than two decades.

What Is 38 Special’s New Album ‘Milestone’?

‘Milestone’ marks 38 Special’s first new studio album in more than 20 years. Survivor alum Jim Peterik, a longtime writing partner of frontman Don Barnes, co-produced the record and helped write its songs.

Speaking about making a new album after such a long gap, Barnes said: “You’re kind of damned if you do, damned if you don’t. But we tried to create a new 38 Special.”

What Has Don Barnes Said About the Tour?

Barnes, describing the band’s live show, said: “We have some amazing fans and it’s always a great time.” He added that the stage production has been overhauled, noting the set is “brand new” with “all new lights and towers” and that “everything has been upgraded.”

38 Special spent the spring and summer of 2026 sharing dates with Kansas, continuing a pairing the two bands also toured together on in 2025. Later dates on the 2026 schedule pair 38 Special with Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Foreigner, Foghat and Jefferson Starship.

Who Is in 38 Special Now?

Don Barnes is the only remaining classic-era member of 38 Special, which he co-founded with Donnie Van Zant. Van Zant retired from the band in 2013, citing inner-ear damage.

Speaking about his former bandmate, Barnes said: “Donnie’s still my partner. He absolutely deserves all that because we started out together as young guys, broke as we could be.”
