Animal Collective, the experimental pop collective known for their pioneering sound, have unveiled their latest single, “Love on the Big Screen.” This track marks a significant return for the group. The single is released under the Domino label and sets the stage for a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl, which also includes the unreleased B-side “Buddies on the Blackboard,” set to drop on August 1st. This endeavor is a collaborative effort produced by Avey Tare and Adam McDaniel, engineered and mixed at Drop of Sun Studios in Asheville, North Carolina, where McDaniel also played a crucial role. The song is mastered by Dave Cooley, adding to the robust production quality the band is known for.

“Love on the Big Screen” introduces listeners to a kaleidoscope of sounds, characterized by the band’s iconic off-kilter melodies interspersed with playful chants, all infused with a hint of ska—a stylistic choice that brings a fresh dynamism to their music repertoire. It’s Animal Collective’s first new music offering since their 2023 album, *Isn’t It Now?*, highlighting a return to the collaborative efforts that fuel their creative process. This release further cements their presence in the music scene while giving fans something to look forward to during the upcoming vinyl release.

This latest single arrives alongside a visualizer masterminded by Danny Perez, whose creative vision complements the song’s psychedelic vibes. Presenting a sensory feast of imagery, the visualizer elevates the track's intended experience. Animal Collective's decision to work with Danny Perez reflects their ongoing commitment to creating visual art that parallels their auditory offerings, showcasing their multidisciplinary approach to music production.

Over the past years, each member of Animal Collective has pursued independent projects, contributing to various musical landscapes. Recently, Panda Bear released his solo project, *Sinister Grift*, while Geologist's collaboration on the album *A Shaw Deal* underscores the members' ability to explore individual tastes while returning to the collective synergy of Animal Collective. These projects have fed back into the collective pool of creativity, evident in the seamless fusion of styles apparent in “Love on the Big Screen.”

The band, featuring Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Geologist, and Deakin, focuses on integrating their individual music evolutions back into the shared Animal Collective brand. The long-standing collaborative relationship with producer Adam McDaniel hints at the trust and cohesion within the group, allowing for explorations like “Love on the Big Screen.” McDaniel's contributions, especially in engineering and mixing, provide a polished yet exploratory sound that aligns with Animal Collective’s philosophy of music-making.

In bringing “Love on the Big Screen” to life, Animal Collective reaffirms their position at the forefront of experimental pop music. The release trail from their recent album to this new single showcases a narrative of ongoing artistic growth, pushing boundaries while embracing their roots. As fans anticipate the August release of the vinyl, there is an acknowledgment of the band's journey and their constant evolution within the music industry.

“Love on the Big Screen” is not just a new tune from the band; it's a celebration of their enduring legacy and a bold statement of their present artistic direction. It reflects Animal Collective's ability to continuously reinvent themselves and offer something refreshingly new to their audiences, maintaining their relevance while being intricately connected with their creative past.
