Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn and Barry Keoghan were filmed recreating The Beatles’ iconic Abbey Road album cover over the weekend of August 15 to 16, 2026. The scene was shot on the famous zebra crossing near Abbey Road recording studios in North London for Sam Mendes’ upcoming four-part Beatles biopic series.

Dickinson plays John Lennon, Mescal plays Paul McCartney, Quinn plays George Harrison and Keoghan plays Ringo Starr. The actors dressed to match the original 1969 photograph, with Dickinson in a white suit as Lennon wore and Mescal walking barefoot as McCartney did in the original shot. Period vehicles were also present on the street during filming.

Fan-shot footage and photos of the recreation circulated widely on social media, with many praising the costume, hair and makeup design for its attention to detail. The real Beatles walked across Abbey Road outside EMI Studios on August 8, 1969, for the cover of their album of the same name, their eleventh studio album and the last one they recorded together, though Let It Be was released after it.

What Have the Cast and Ringo Starr Said About the Films?

Ringo Starr told People he is excited that Mendes took on “the madness of making four movies at the same time,” adding that their lives “must interact in some way” and that he is eager to see what Mendes does with the project. Starr also told TMZ that Barry Keoghan, who plays him, is “such a fine actor,” saying, “I’m in good hands.”
