Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age Open 2026 ‘Take Cover’ Tour in Toronto
Foo Fighters began their 2026 North American “Take Cover” summer stadium tour at Rogers Stadium in Toronto on Tuesday, August 4, with Queens of the Stone Age and Mannequin Pussy opening the show. Dave Grohl’s band ran through a 26-song set that reached back across their catalog, saving room for tributes to former drummer Taylor Hawkins and Grohl’s late mother, Virginia.
- Foo Fighters opened with “All My Life” and closed the main portion of the show with “Best of You” before returning for an encore of “The Teacher” and “Everlong.”
- Only one song, “Caught in the Echo,” came from the band’s newest record, 2026’s Your Favorite Toy.
- 1999’s There Is Nothing Left to Lose supplied four songs, more than any other Foo Fighters album played that night; The Colour and the Shape, Wasting Light, and Concrete and Gold each contributed three.
- Queens of the Stone Age played 11 songs pulled from five different albums, walking onstage to Starland Vocal Band’s “Afternoon Delight.”
How Foo Fighters Paid Tribute to Taylor Hawkins and Virginia Grohl
The band worked several personal dedications into the Toronto set. “Under You” was performed by Grohl alone as a nod to Shane Hawkins, Taylor Hawkins’ son, on his 20th birthday, while “Aurora” was played in memory of Taylor Hawkins himself, who died in 2022.
Later in the encore, “The Teacher” was dedicated to Grohl’s mother, Virginia Grohl. The show then wrapped with “Everlong,” timed to a burst of fireworks.
Foo Fighters’ B-Stage Detour and Cover Snippets
Midway through the show, Foo Fighters moved to a smaller secondary stage for a stripped-down stretch that included an acoustic version of “Wheels,” a cover of “Marigold” (originally by Late!, later recorded by Nirvana), and “Big Me” off the band’s self-titled 1995 debut. Elsewhere in the set, “No Son of Mine” folded in a snippet of Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades.”
Queens of the Stone Age’s Opening Set in Toronto
Queens of the Stone Age closed their 11-song opening slot with a run of three straight tracks from 2002’s Songs for the Deaf: “Go With the Flow,” “No One Knows,” and “A Song for the Dead.” Earlier in the set, “Make It Wit Chu” carried a snippet of The Rolling Stones’ “Miss You.” The band is reported to have dropped “The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret” from its printed setlist that night.
