Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu, the founding bassist for Korn, has stated in recent interviews that he has not maintained communication with his bandmates since 2019, casting a shadow over his future involvement with the group. This revelation emerged during his appearance on the popular YouTube podcast, Basement Talk, where Fieldy shared insights into his personal journey since stepping away from the limelight. Despite the band's ongoing activities and performances, there appears to be a significant communication gap between Fieldy and the rest of Korn—something he disclosed without any apparent animosity, describing the band as a “machine” that continues to operate efficiently.

The break in communication does not seem to stem from discord within the band. Fieldy has explicitly mentioned that there is “no beef” between him and the other members. This hiatus was spurred by Fieldy's need to address some personal challenges and “bad habits,” which he openly clarified were not related to drug use, as he stated he has never used substances such as cocaine or heroin. Instead, he acknowledged that these habits revolved around alcohol consumption in his downtime. The founding member has been on hiatus from the band since 2021, during which he has taken a step back to focus on his personal growth and mental health, a sentiment echoed by his fellow bandmates who support his journey toward healing.

The band's bassist position was temporarily filled by Ra Díaz of Suicidal Tendencies, allowing Korn to continue their musical endeavors, including the release of their album Requiem in 2022, on which Fieldy is credited. While Fieldy stayed out of the public eye, the album symbolizes his lingering influence in the band.

Fieldy's declaration brings to light the complexities of maintaining band dynamics amidst personal trials and triumphs. The situation underscores an increasingly common narrative in the music industry, where mental health and personal wellbeing take precedence over consistent public appearances. His hiatus and the candid discussions about his personal issues provide a framework for understanding how maintaining a healthy balance between personal lives and professional commitments is paramount. As Fieldy navigates his personal path, his legacy as Korn's bassist remains intact, with fans and bandmates awaiting any signs of his return. Until then, Fieldy continues his journey of self-rediscovery, hopeful that time will provide solutions to bridge the gap formed by years of silence.
