Pink Floyd and The Royal Mint Unveil 18-Carat Gold Dark Side of the Moon Guitar Pick

Pink Floyd and the UK’s Royal Mint have released an 18-carat gold guitar pick decorated with the prism artwork from the cover of Dark Side of the Moon. Only 10 of the picks have been made, and the item carries a price tag of £4,750, which outlets have converted to roughly $7,800 by Ultimate Classic Rock and roughly $6,400 by Guitar World and Guitar Player.

The gold pick is struck rather than molded and then finished by hand, and each one weighs around 20.9 grams and measures about 40.6mm long. Despite its precious-metal build, the pick has a beveled, tactile edge that the Royal Mint says makes it fully usable for playing guitar rather than a display-only novelty.

The gold pick expands a line of Dark Side of the Moon collectibles that the Royal Mint first introduced in May 2026. That earlier rollout included a £5 coin priced at about $25 and a limited-edition 1oz gold proof coin priced at £5,300, or roughly $7,200.

The Royal Mint, which dates its origins back to 886 AD, has previously issued commemorative coins honoring other British acts, including the Who, Elton John, and Queen.

Rebecca Morgan, the Royal Mint’s Director of Commemorative Coins, said the prism design remains immediately recognizable to fans across the globe. “The iconic prism is instantly recognizable to fans around the world, and Henry Gray has done a remarkable job of bringing it to life with the craft and detail this band deserves,” Morgan said. She added, “Their influence on music, art and culture is immeasurable, and we’re incredibly proud that The Royal Mint can play its part in preserving that legacy forever.”

Henry Gray, credited as Senior Experiential Creative Designer, is named as the designer behind the pick’s artwork.

How the Gold Pick Compares to Other Pink Floyd Memorabilia

Guitar World pointed out that the gold pick’s price looks modest next to other Pink Floyd-linked collectibles on the market. David Gilmour’s Black Strat guitar has sold twice at auction for a combined total of $18.55 million, a figure that makes it the world’s most expensive guitar.

Dark Side of the Moon came out in 1973 as Pink Floyd’s eighth studio album. It reached number one on both sides of the Atlantic and has since sold 45 million copies.
