Pink Floyd’s Iconic ‘Animals’ Building To Become Concert Venue

Apple announced on September 22, 2026, that it is building a new live music venue called Apple Music Hall inside London’s Battersea Power Station. The 600-capacity space is scheduled to officially open on September 28, 2026, and will host intimate one-off shows that can be broadcast and livestreamed to audiences around the world.

What Features Does Apple Music Hall Have?

The venue’s 38-foot stage is built so it can be reset for a traditional front-facing concert layout or reconfigured for an in-the-round performance, giving artists arena-style staging options inside a much smaller room. Surrounding the audience is a 48-speaker Spatial Audio setup designed to wrap sound around every seat in the house.

Behind the stage, two recording and mixing studios let engineers turn a live set directly into a multitrack recording finished in Spatial Audio. The space is also wired for at least 16 cameras that route into a purpose-built broadcast control room, with the infrastructure built to run iPhone cameras alongside conventional broadcast equipment at the same time.

Apple states that every performance at the hall can leave the building as a completed Spatial Audio mix, a broadcast-ready video edit, and multicamera footage, all captured from a single show. Because the concerts are billed as one-time-only events, Apple plans to livestream each performance globally so audiences outside London can watch along.

The design also folds in details from the building’s industrial past, including original brickwork, fluted archways, and bronze balcony work inspired by the power station’s historic windows. A large glass wall inside the venue opens up a view of the surrounding concourse and the River Thames.

Apple Music Radio Moves Into Battersea Power Station

Alongside the concert space, Apple has opened new studios for Apple Music Radio at Battersea Power Station. All of Apple Music Radio’s London-based hosts and programs are now broadcasting live from the site, making the power station the network’s new London base.

What Apple and Apple Music Executives Said

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and International Content, tied the new venue to the company’s long involvement in live music. “Apple’s deep love for music dates all the way back to the very beginning, from the launch of the iPod to the long-running iTunes Music Festival to the debut of Apple Music,” he said. “Today, with the opening of Apple Music Hall, we are once again taking an unprecedented step further in our commitment to artists and fans by supporting live music in ways only Apple can do.”

Zane Lowe, Apple Music’s global creative director and lead anchor, framed the venue as a fresh way to bring artists and listeners together. “We’re always looking for new opportunities to connect the artists and the fans because we are fans,” he said. “What better way to celebrate this relationship than a new music venue where we get to experience amazing music in an amazing space and share it with the world. Great music and memories will be made at Apple Music Hall.”

UK Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy also weighed in on the announcement. “This is a huge vote of confidence in the UK as a global creative powerhouse,” she said. “When a company of Apple’s scale backs British music and talent, it’s a signal of just how strong our creative sectors really are. These sectors are not only a source of immense national pride, but they also deliver real economic value for the country.”
