Rod Stewart Announces Retirement From Touring, Reveals 2027 ‘The Final Encore’ Tour Dates

Rod Stewart announced on Instagram on Monday, September 28, 2026, that he plans to retire from touring after one more run of shows in 2027. The 81-year-old singer revealed the dates for that farewell outing, a UK and European tour titled “The Final Encore,” while stressing that he is not walking away from music altogether.

In a video posted to his account, Stewart told fans, “Ladies and gentlemen, after much deliberation and sadness, I have to announce next year will be my last tour forever ever… I’m not retiring, but this will be the last rock ‘n’ roll tour.” He followed the clip with a written statement that read, “My dear friends, the time has come to say farewell to life on the road. After more than six decades, The Final Encore will most definitely be my last.”

Rod Stewart’s 2026 Health Issues and Tour Cancellations

The retirement announcement follows a difficult stretch for Stewart during his 2026 North American “One Last Time” tour. He underwent a “routine coronary stent procedure” in August 2026 after doctors identified a blockage, a development that forced him to postpone the remaining North American dates and scrap a six-date Las Vegas residency.

A statement posted to Stewart’s Instagram account said doctors were satisfied with his recovery from the procedure and that he was advised to spend four weeks recuperating before returning to the stage. Earlier in 2026, Stewart also had to pause a concert in Utah to use an oxygen tank after nearly fainting during the performance, and he canceled a June 12 show in San Diego less than an hour before showtime because of what was reported as an acute upper respiratory infection.

Stewart drew criticism after that San Diego cancellation when he was spotted cheering for Scotland at a World Cup match in Boston.
