UMG, Apple Corps and Capitol/UMe will release an expanded super deluxe edition of The Beatles’ 1965 album “Rubber Soul” on October 2nd, 2026. The reissue features new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes, previously unreleased session recordings and demos, and a previously unheard John Lennon song outline titled “Little Girl.”

  • “Rubber Soul” was originally released on December 3rd, 1965, and was recorded during four weeks of sessions in October and November 1965.
  • The reissue will arrive in standard single-disc CD and LP editions, two-CD and two-LP special editions, four-CD and five-LP super deluxe editions, and a Blu-ray edition.
  • The Beatles teased the announcement with a cryptic message on their website reading “Good things come to those who Wait,” with a capitalized “Wait” referencing the “Rubber Soul” track of that name.
  • “Michelle (Take 1)” was released as a preview of the reissue, alongside a box-set trailer.

What’s New on The Beatles’ ‘Rubber Soul’ Reissue

Producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell created new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes sourced directly from the original four-track master tapes. The set also preserves the original 1965 mono mix and the original Capitol US album version of “Rubber Soul.”

The audio was “de-mixed” using cutting-edge technology developed by the sound team led by Emile de la Rey at Peter Jackson’s WingNut Films Productions Ltd. The reissue includes 24 early session recordings, made up of 20 previously unreleased takes and three previously unreleased home demos.

The set also includes the double A-side non-album single “Day Tripper” / “We Can Work It Out,” along with early takes and a songwriting work tape of “Day Tripper” and Paul McCartney’s demo of “We Can Work It Out.”

The Story Behind John Lennon’s Unheard ‘Little Girl’

Among the unreleased material is “Little Girl,” described as a previously unheard John Lennon song outline never before released or rumoured, presented as John’s demo. Giles Martin has said the recording’s emergence was surprising, telling Rolling Stone it came from the Lennon Estate.

“It came from the Lennon Estate, I think it was Sean,” Martin said. “It was one of those things where they say, ‘Oh, and then there’s this.'”

‘Rubber Soul’ Super Deluxe Formats and Packaging

The Blu-ray edition includes the Dolby Atmos mix, high-resolution stereo audio, and promotional films for “Day Tripper” and “We Can Work It Out.” A limited-edition orange vinyl and a D2C-exclusive Zoetrope vinyl edition will also be available.

The 4CD and 5LP super deluxe editions include an 88-page hardbound book featuring a new foreword and introduction by Paul McCartney, along with a foreword compiled from John Lennon’s own words.
