FKA Twigs Cancels North American Leg of Tour Due to Visa Issues

FKA twigs, the celebrated British singer-songwriter, recently faced a significant setback in her North American tour schedule due to visa-related issues. Originally set to embark on her “Eusexua” tour across the United States, the artist was forced to cancel several major performances in cities including Chicago, Toronto, and New York. As she posted on social media, the cancellations stem from her production team's failure to complete the necessary visa paperwork on time, which derailed plans for performances scheduled imminently and posed challenges for shows in Canada and Mexico due to tour routing complexities. Despite the disappointment, FKA twigs expressed hope, planning to reschedule the events as she navigates the logistics of the situation.

Notably, the delay in processing her U.S. visas shone a spotlight on broader industry concerns. Many artists have echoed frustrations over rising costs and elongated processing times for U.S. touring visas, which some say have doubled in cost, reaching over $1,000 per person, not including additional fees for expedited processing. Irish singer-songwriter CMAT highlighted the financial strain this causes, noting it often impacts the feasibility of tours, despite the necessity of performing in the U.S. to achieve global success.

The North American leg of FKA twigs' tour was highly anticipated following her critically acclaimed runs in Europe and the United Kingdom. Her show in the U.S. was particularly significant as she had not performed in the country since 2019. In a heartfelt social media message, she emphasized her deep disappointment, stating: “This is just such a huge blow, and I feel super let down.” She also reassured fans of her commitment to resolve the issues and return, promising to come back “harder and stronger than ever.”

Continuing on the matter, the singer expressed her disappointment in her team, pointing out the behind-the-scenes challenges she has encountered while organizing the tour. While she did not delve deeply into specifics beyond the visa issue, her comments suggest broader logistical and production hurdles, which are common in the demanding landscape of international touring. With her strong connection to the U.S. audience, she lamented the missing opportunity to perform live, referring to the country as “a home away from home.”

The visa issues did not halt FKA twigs’ determination as a performer; she confirmed plans to proceed with other scheduled shows, including high-profile appearances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California and a concert in San Francisco later in the month. Her resolve was clear—spotlighted by the emphasis on her readiness to adapt and face challenges head-on to ensure dedicated performances for her fan base.
