The Cure is set to shake the music world once more with their newly announced remix album, Mixes of a Lost World, a reinterpretation of their 2024 critically acclaimed work, Songs of a Lost World. Slated for release on June 13, the album will feature renowned artists such as Four Tet, Paul Oakenfold, Deftones’ Chino Moreno, and many more, revisiting and reimagining tracks from the original album. Fans can expect a journey through the album’s songs as they are completely reinterpreted by 24 esteemed artists. This not only marks a significant moment for fans of The Cure but also highlights a touch of philanthropy, with all recording royalties from the album directed to War Child UK, a charity aimed at helping children affected by war.

Robert Smith, the iconic frontman of The Cure, shared his excitement and inspiration for this remix project. “Just after Christmas, I was sent a couple of unsolicited remixes of songs from Songs of a Lost World and they were incredible,” Smith noted, expressing his appreciation for dance music reimaginations of the band’s work. “This entire idea blossomed from curiosity – wanting to see how the whole album could sound when viewed with different musical eyes. What came about was a spectacular trip through all eight songs by 24 wonderful artists and remixers; it’s beyond anything I could have originally hoped for.” This openness and adventurous foray into remixes signify another chapter in The Cure's storied connection with dance music, harking back to Smith's long-term appreciation for the genre.

Musically, Mixes of a Lost World provides a blend of creativity, with each track receiving a unique treatment. The three-disc set's extensive tracklist features standouts such as Paul Oakenfold’s “Cinematic” Remix of “I Can Never Say Goodbye”, Orbital’s take on “Endsong”, and a ‘February Blues' remix of “Alone” by Shanti Celeste. Other highlights include Mogwai’s contribution on “Endsong”, the powerful reinterpretation of “Warsong” by Chino Moreno, and the beloved alternative twist from 65daysofstatic on “All I Ever Am”. These remixes are set to offer listeners a new perspective, amplifying both the emotional and instrumental landscapes crafted by these varied artists.

The remix album arrives on the heels of The Cure’s first record in 16 years and commemorates Robert Smith’s continued dedication to the band’s legacy and evolution. *Songs of a Lost World* initially received widespread acclaim upon its release in 2024, earning the top spot in 15 countries. However, the remixed edition stands as a testament to artistic collaboration and innovation, ensuring that the original album’s themes and sounds are revitalized through diverse genre explorations. The process promises not only to delight fans but also to engage new listeners by melding The Cure’s haunting, ethereal soundscapes with contemporary alternative influences.

Mixes of a Lost World will be available in several deluxe editions – including three LP, CD, and cassette versions – which are designed to cater to the preferences of both avid collectors and new fans. Each format boasts high-quality presentation, from 180-gram heavyweight black bio-vinyl with a foldout poster to individually printed cassette settings, ensuring that this release is as visually striking as it is sonically engaging. Such premium packaging is a constant in The Cure’s offerings, underscoring their commitment to music as a holistic artistic experience.
