Willie Nelson, the iconic American country music singer-songwriter, is set to release Oh What a Beautiful World, on April 25th, marking his 154th album and 77th solo studio effort, promising a collection of songs that honor the work of fellow Texas songwriter Rodney Crowell. Over the decades, Nelson and Crowell have crossed paths numerous times in the world of music, making this project both anticipated and significant for fans of traditional country music. The album is set to be released through Legacy Recordings, completing Nelson's ambitious feat of interpreting notable songwriters' works.

In a bid to give fans a taste of what's to come, the album's title track, “Oh What a Beautiful World,” has already been released. This track, a duet with Crowell, maintains the riveting essence of the original, from Crowell's 2014 album Tarpaper Sky, yet incorporates Nelson's unmistakable voice and style. The song is characterized by authentic country harmonies and classic honky-tonk instrumentation, providing a heartfelt reflection on the passage of time and the beauty in life's fleeting moments. Nelson's rendition of the song brings a fresh yet familiar sound that only a master of his craft could achieve.

The album promises a rich lineup of 12 Crowell-penned or co-penned tracks that have defined the songwriter's illustrious career. Songs featured include “Banks of the Old Bandera,” “Shame on the Moon,” and “Stuff That Works.” Each track was carefully selected to showcase both Crowell's lyrical prowess and Nelson's unique interpretive abilities. This collaboration is a testament to the strong creative bond shared by the two artists, as well as to Nelson's dedication to celebrating his colleagues while adding his distinct flair.

Moreover, Nelson is not only concentrating on album work this year but is also gearing up for an extensive tour tied to the release of Oh What a Beautiful World. Set to kick off in May, the “Outlaw Music Festival Tour” includes a remarkable 34 dates where Nelson will join forces with legends such as Bob Dylan, as well as a rotating array of supporting acts, including Wilco, Billy Strings, Sheryl Crow, and The Avett Brothers.
