Paul McCartney Biopic Man on the Run Releases First Trailer

A new documentary biopic chronicling Paul McCartney’s life and career in the years following the breakup of The Beatles is on the way, and the first trailer has now been released.

Titled Man on the Run, the film focuses on McCartney’s turbulent but creatively fertile early 1970s period, when he faced public doubt, personal uncertainty and intense critical scrutiny while rebuilding his career. The project takes its name from his landmark 1973 album with Wings, a record widely viewed as the moment McCartney reasserted himself as a vital force in popular music.

The newly released trailer offers an intimate look at that transition. Featuring McCartney’s own reflections, the preview captures the emotional weight of the post-Beatles years as he questioned his future and grappled with the sudden loss of the band that had defined his life. Archival footage and photographs place viewers inside recording studios, rehearsal spaces and domestic moments that reveal a more vulnerable side of the artist.

The film explores McCartney’s decision to form Wings with his wife Linda McCartney and longtime collaborator Denny Laine. It examines the criticism the band initially faced, the pressure of being compared to his former Beatles bandmates and the determination that ultimately led to commercial and artistic success.

According to the trailer, Man on the Run draws on rare and previously unseen material, including home movies, studio recordings and behind-the-scenes footage. The documentary also features interviews with McCartney and key figures from his personal and professional life, providing context for the resilience required to move forward after unprecedented fame.

The film positions the creation of Band on the Run not just as a hit album, but as a turning point. The trailer underscores how that record restored McCartney’s confidence and reshaped public perception, transforming Wings from a questioned project into one of the most successful bands of the decade.

Man on the Run is scheduled for release in 2026, with further details on distribution and premiere plans expected in the coming months. The trailer suggests the film will appeal not only to longtime fans, but to anyone interested in creative reinvention and survival after cultural upheaval.
