Haim, the esteemed Los Angeles-based indie/pop sister trio comprised of Alana, Danielle, and Este Haim, have officially announced their new album, I Quit. Set to release on June 20 via Columbia Records, this new project follows their well-received 2020 album, Women in Music Pt. III. Produced by Danielle Haim alongside Rostam Batmanglij, the announcement of I Quit was accompanied by the release of their new single, “Down to Be Wrong”. This track continues the narrative progression following their earlier singles of the year “Relationships” and “Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out”, as they explore personal themes interwoven with universally relatable sentiments.

The artwork for I Quit was crafted by Paul Thomas Anderson, a frequent collaborator and friend of Haim. Anderson has previously directed music videos for the band and captured memorable visuals such as the cover for Women in Music Pt. III. Known for his cinematic prowess, Anderson’s contribution to the band's visual aesthetic further integrates the artistic synergy between his filmic insights and Haim's musical narratives. A noteworthy aspect of the album’s promotion includes a series of “I quit” statements visible in the promotional material, featuring phrases like “I quit what does not serve me,” “I quit shame,” and “I quit overthinking,” among others. These statements hint at a thematic pivot towards self-reflection and personal growth, resonating deeply with listeners who appreciate music that contemplates the human experience.

Haim debuted “Down to Be Wrong” live at The Bellwether, marking their first major gig since September 2023. The high-energy performance reaffirmed the band's commitment to delivering electrifying music with compelling emotional depth. Accompanied by a striking visual set, the performance of their latest work showcased their readiness to introduce this new chapter to their fans. Additionally, this event included a surprise onstage appearance by Addison Rae during a performance of an unreleased track titled “Blood On The Street,” highlighting Haim's collaborative spirit and their penchant for creating memorable live experiences.

In advance of the album release, the trio has shared intriguing glimpses of its composition. The album will reportedly open with a track titled “Gone”, which is said to capture the essence of clarity post-breakup. Another song in the lineup, “Take Me Back”, along with all previously released singles, underscores the rich musical texture listeners can anticipate. Interestingly, there may be a track featuring a sample from George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90,” which remains to be confirmed regarding clearance, adding a layer of anticipation and intrigue to the album’s unveiling.

I Quit promises to be a pivotal album for Haim, blending their characteristic sound with new influences and lyrical introspection. As they prepare for its release, their involvement in upcoming 2025 music festivals like Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Primavera Sound further extends their reach and reinforces their status in the music industry. Their journey continues to captivate not only with musical prowess but through well-orchestrated collaborations and performances, cementing Haim as a force in the world of indie and pop music. Fans can look forward to the complete album on June 20, with many wondering which tracks will emerge as new favorites in their expansive discography.
