Iconic Swedish garage rock band, The Hives, have made a triumphant return with the announcement of their upcoming album, The Hives Forever Forever The Hives. In a move generating significant buzz across the music industry, the album is co-produced by Mike D from the Beastie Boys and features contributions from Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age. This album marks their first major release since 2023's The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons, an 11-year gap that had left fans eagerly awaiting new material.

The announcement reveals that The Hives Forever is set to be released on August 29 via Play It Again Sam. The album comprises 13 tracks, each designed to stand out as a single, underscoring the band's ambition to craft a record full of energetic and distinct songs. Frontman Pelle Almqvist described it as a “new record so full of energy, joy, anger, and life that you will be questioning reality as you have known it.” The lead single, “Enough Is Enough,” has already been released, accompanied by a dynamic music video shot in Bucharest, directed by filmmaker Eik Kockum.

Reflecting on the album's style and themes, Almqvist shared that the tracks encompass raw and powerful rock'n'roll elements, with lyrics that tackle themes of defiance and rebellion. He expressed confidence in the album's quality and its alignment with the band's signature sound, noting that after 30 years together, they are at the peak of their creative powers.

The album's production process was a collaborative effort across several studios in Sweden, including Stockholm’s Yung Lean/YEAR0001's and Riksmixningsverket studios. The band worked with longtime collaborator Pelle Gunnerfeldt along with Mike D, who infused the sessions with fresh energy. Josh Homme also played an advisory role, providing insights and feedback that helped shape the final product.

In addition to the album, The Hives have announced a world tour that will see them perform in multiple continents, starting in Australia on July 17. The tour will include dates across Japan, North America, and Europe, culminating in a December 6 show at Stockholm's Avicii Arena. This extensive tour reflects the band's ambition and their readiness to reconnect with global audiences, following a resounding period of anticipation and preparation.
