Elton John, a legendary figure in the music world, has teamed up with the esteemed Brandi Carlile for a collaborative album that promises to be one of the most extraordinary musical experiences of the year. Titled Who Believes in Angels?, this album is set for release on April 4. The collaboration between these iconic artists was born out of a long-standing friendship and a shared vision of creating something unique in the contemporary music landscape. The album features John’s long-time songwriting partner Bernie Taupin and renowned producer Andrew Watt, who have both played instrumental roles in shaping the album's sound.

Recorded over a span of 20 days in October 2023, the album encapsulates an array of musical influences, from rock and pop to Americana. Sessions took place at the famous Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles, a venue imbued with the creative energy of past legends. The talented group of musicians supporting the album includes Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, session bass legend Pino Palladino, and former Pearl Jam guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. Their collective expertise adds depth and breadth to the album, promising listeners an eclectic mix of sounds that defy traditional genre conventions.

The emotional labor evident in the creation of “Who Believes in Angels?” is vividly captured in a candid trailer that gives fans a glimpse into the recording process. The footage reveals moments of frustration and self-doubt experienced by John, who, despite nearing retirement age, remains committed to pushing the boundaries of his music. Carlile, too, has expressed her admiration and excitement at collaborating with one of her musical idols, describing the experience as a fulfillment of her artistic dreams. The album, as she aptly puts it, represents a radical act of joy and creativity in a world fraught with challenges.

John openly admitted that the album was one of the toughest he's ever made, especially coming on the heels of his strenuous final world tour. Yet, the end result is a triumph of creativity and collaboration. Songs like ‘The Rose of Laura Nyro', and the titular track ‘Who Believes in Angels?' exemplify the album's ability to blend emotional lyricism with innovative musical arrangements. This harmonious fusion of styles is anticipated to resonate with audiences across generations, appealing to both fans of John and Carlile as well as newcomers to their music.

The anticipation for “Who Believes in Angels?” extends beyond the recorded tracks. A special one-night-only performance by John and Carlile is set to take place at the historic London Palladium on March 26, just days before the album's release. This concert promises an evening of storytelling and musical exploration, capturing the essence of the duo’s artistic journey. Tickets have been eagerly sought after, with fans expressing excitement at the opportunity to witness the magic of this collaboration in a live setting.
