Baltimore-based experimental hardcore band Turnstile has officially announced the release of their highly anticipated new album, Never Enough. Set to drop on June 6, this collection marks the band's first full-length release in four years, following their critically acclaimed 2021 album, Glow On. This upcoming project is already generating excitement within the music community, particularly with the release of “Never Enough,” the lead titular single from the album. The accompanying music video, directed by lead vocalist Brendan Yates and guitarist Pat McCrory, presents a visually dynamic feast, blending various scenic backdrops and showcasing the band members' energetic performances. This release underscores the band's intention to evolve and explore new sonic landscapes.

The creation of Never Enough has been a transformative journey for Turnstile, with their innovative approach setting them apart. The recording process took place between Los Angeles and Baltimore, with Brendan Yates taking on production duties. The album signifies a notable change for Turnstile primarily because it is conceived without the involvement of founding guitarist Brady Ebert, who exited the group. In his place, the band welcomed Meg Mills, known for her work with Big Cheese and Chubby and the Gang, further diversifying their sound. Mills' inclusion is a significant development for the group, indicating an exciting new chapter in their musical journey.

The lead single, “Never Enough,” represents a departure from Turnstile's hardcore roots, venturing into territories dominated by hypnotic synths and pop-punk elements. Clocking in at approximately five minutes, the title track is one of the band's longest recordings to date. Notably absent of their traditional hardcore edge, the song gradually builds intensity, transitioning into a melodic yet resilient anthem. This new direction poses intriguing questions about the band's future sonic evolution, as it defies traditional genre boundaries by merging numerous musical elements. The track also features guest musician Dev Hynes, also known as Blood Orange, who contributes cello to the composition, enhancing its rich, atmospheric quality.

For fans and newcomers alike, “Never Enough” promises to deliver a multi-faceted listening experience, reflective of Turnstile's continuous evolution and foresight in blending genres. The band's readiness to feature synths, extended instrumental sections, and unconventional song structures is likely to garner both curiosity and new audiences. Their willingness to explore and redefine their musical identity heralds exciting times for the band as they continue to forge a new path in the heavily traversed landscape of modern music.
